Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Might not be a bad idea to leave the heater bypassed while you shake it down and do the flushes. Heater cores frequently have thinner tubes and are great at collecting sediment. Not like you'll need it in the next 5-6 months anyway. Matt, a word about looping the heater hoses to by pass the core in...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

The 0.745 Works well for a 6 cylinder. I can drive through town in 5th easily at 30 and make corners in 3rd but 4.11s help this. I have a zx 5 speed out back and would like to see if I could like it but too much work to swap it. Had my 710 to 110 years ago but speedo out 10% so really about 100. It ...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Best of all the 6 cylinder sound!!!

My info shows exact same ratios but 0.864 for 5th. About 13.6% OD and more usable.

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Hi Matt, yes, fine here but I do worry about you guys down there. In late March I was let go from my job but given 2 months (8 weeks) pay as a going away. Almost 28 years with them but I had almost zero problems getting over it. So for now I'm unemployed and looking forward to full retirement. Worki...

Re: 71 521 electrical gremlin

521 should have a 28? amp alt. unless a 510 one swapped in. Pull the plastic plug in the back of it and see if that's the problem next time you go away.

Re: Headlights short out and die after being on for a while.

Forgot the relay... but the relay can't keep the dash lights on. If you had it (headlamp switch) out sometimes just messing with it will fix it.

Re: Headlights short out and die after being on for a while.

Today it happened again, but after I shut everything off, my dash lights all stayed on, no matter what I did with the headlight switch. No fuse is going to power the dash lights when the switch is off. This is likely a failure in the headlight switch. If you are careful you can pry back the folded ...

Re: Newbie needs some pointers on some 720's

Way easier to find another Z20 or Z22 head than converting to an L head. You will need L series timing cover /carb/manifolds and the intake will be tilted about 20 degrees to the left and I doubt will clear the brake master cylinder. That's even if it needs one. To rule that out ... Don't assume... ...

Re: 210 rear brakes

It's a ratchet assy. When there is enough brake shoe movement from wear, the lever can move behind the star wheel and moves it one click tighter on the return stroke, which removes the slack. It should try to do this automatically any and every time you use the brakes but only actually adjusts it wh...

Re: need opinions on Ka trans for 74 620

Farmerjoe aka Neil confermed the z24i trans at 30.5...and told me 720 driveline shortbox is an inch long than 620.... :fyea: The As the two different wheelbase lengths are in the back of the frame, the front driveshafts with the carrier bearing should all be the same length. All bolt to the same pl...

Re: ♦♦♦♦Dat's LZ Venti Deux♦♦♦♦

The Z24 has a single chain timing system right? Maybe I can solve the chain issue by using a Z24 crank sprocket. Sorry the L and Z series motors all use double chain of different lengths. KAs use single. Mike, would you say the this bottom end (Z22E,L20B crank, Z20E rods, Z22E pistons) can withstan...

Re: ♦♦♦♦Dat's LZ Venti Deux♦♦♦♦

Right? Seems pretty easy too, the Z and KA are pretty similar. The Z timing cover should bolt up to the head!? If not I dont mind some fabrication. Z series timing chain cover exactly fits the KA24E head. The only MAJOR problem is the the timing chain and the cams. the KA-DE has an idler gear at th...
