Re: A14 SU Carbs.

Oddly enough, I ran into Steve of ZTherapy, at a Datsun Northwest meeting in downtown Portland and we were discussing this manifold and those carbs. He suggested boring out the manifold so the throttle plates would clear the mounting boss and run the carb/manifold combination on an A series engine, ...

Re: Datsun Garage Tour Part I

It was a bit on the damp side this past December and after a week of cold weather Dave and I got the final HoBo garage in place today. http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab351/smurfin8or/Datsun%20Garage%20Tour/P1110631.jpg Have to put 1200's inside of course! http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab351...

Re: It's wheel thing

OK, I have been checking around the greater Portland area- the going price for dye testing is between $250- $500 just for the center section, spokes and lug nut holes, X-rays start at $500 each! About that static display...this is more than I what to spend!

Re: It's wheel thing

K_trip: Thank you for your well founded concern, I read most of the info from the link you posted as well as many others dealing with the testing/methods of/scary stuff-wheels coming apart! I have had a CAT scan, and don't see an easy way to hiding one my surgical gown, let alone two! I need to find...

Re: Datsun Garage Tour Part I

Last week's wind storm was a bit harsh on my hobo garage! http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab351/smurfin8or/Datsun%20Garage%20Tour/PC171381.jpg Dave's hobo garage held -up well and it's 3 years older then mine. The frames on the newer models are much easier to assemble but front and back flap mate...

Re: Datsun Garage Tour Part I

I am fairly blab-by about where cars are, what they might cost and how to get them. And yes I am sitting on this one. As soon as there is an opening at the Datsun Garage- this one is coming home. And yes it is still sitting there.

Re: 73 1200 coupe, Twisted the Rebuild

Well the rebuild slowed to a near halt as two thing have occurred 1) I have discovered late in life that I really like renegade auto-crossing (Northwest Autosports Association) and have improved a lot in this passed year- as stated by my mentor, who's been at it for 25 years. And b) It hasn't rained...

I rarely admit to owning British cars, but bought these yesterday while attending the 30th annual British field (swap meet on Sunday)-meet held at PIR on the grass field, every Labor Day weekend. http://i879.photobucket.com/albums/ab351/smurfin8or/1200%20parts%20sell8sold/P9011234.jpg Polished and r...

You can see there is a electric solenoid on the vacuum switch, which I think was connected to the broken white barb on the throttle diaphragm- so when the key was turned to the off position, ...

Re: Lightweight A series flywheel

This weekend I drove a Datsun 1200 sedan, for 3 runs at Packwood autoX, this was it's first time out with an 6.5lbs flywheel, OMG! Having driven Smurf on the same course, the acceleration of the sedan was so quick that I was up to 6,000 rpm in 2nd where I was just shifting into 2nd in Smurf- unreal!...

Adam: I love it! You are the only other 1200 owner who puts some serious miles on, I think anything over 5.000 miles a year is serious! I put 22,000 and change on SMURF in the first 3 years + about 150 AutoX runs at Packwood over the last season and a half. Burned down my set of 215/50-13 Kumho's -w...

Re: the mine now coupe.

OK, I found bearings in California, having them shipped tomorrow SIZE: 32mm X 62mm X 16mm These are NOT cheap- but things no longer made rarely are! I hope you found the right parts, as you can not turn axles down at the bearing surface as they harden with industrial chrome. I tried that route and a...
