Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Lol! Yep, that sounds about right! Don't tell Rose!! ;) I'm super stoked to only have a small issue. Going to make a template box out of cardboard, then have my Datsun guru replicate it in aluminum. Going to put a large filter on top and in between carbs. Should be able to get enough airflow that wa...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Wynona runs again! So, fyi, 1" tall air filters is not enough airflow for a 2.6 liter engine past 3500 rpm. F me running! Have the Datsun guru looking at making a custom air box. Either that or I'm ditching the brake booster and running manual brakes. Took the air filters off, she runs to 7k no...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Well I didn't feel like doing anything today so I said fuck it and got more Christmas lights! And a sweet Christmas-y projector that does swirled red blue and green lighting on the side of the house. Our block looks pretty good this year. And someone finally moved into the house across the street an...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

I hear you. I'm normally pretty good about not driving while tired, but last night was a little close. Had to keep opening the window to get some cold air in.

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Could be starving due to level also. But if it's set rich and works just fine, shouldn't be a problem of the needle. It does go to stoich when it starves, but not lean. I'll re-check some stuff tomorrow. Just got back from a late dinner at mom and dads. Damn near fell asleep on the freeway. Bah. Goo...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

I'm thinking the problem is the float bowls. At 4k it just drops out, but doesn't go lean or rich, just drops out. Fuel pressure doesn't change. Thinking the float bowls are emptying and it's plain running out of fuel. Going to fiddle with it some more tomorrow.

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

I was thinking the other option is perhaps the needle should be moved up in the piston again. I can move it a few thousandths and try that, which will figure out high rpm running. But the needle is all the way out of the piston on high speed for the most part, so I doubt this is it. If it is, then I...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Ok, Andy Kazanis bailed me out with some stock needles. Got them in, car's running pretty darn well, but after fiddling for a bit, have an issue of cutting out at WOT. And then the halmeter kept telling me I was lean. Adjusted fuel pressure a bit, the gauge is indicating steady, but I'm worried abou...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Which seats? You mean the nozzles? And no, sadly I can't drive and enjoy. I fucked up the one needle just great. Big old gouge in it. And I'll have to destroy that needle to get it out. It's jammed in, I can move it an 1/8 inch in an out. I'm thinking I tightened the holding screw too hard.

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Alright, here's what's going on with me tonight! Ordered two ZH needles and two WO3 needles from Australia ebay. Woot woot! And I should go by and get some standard needles this weekend from a Datsun guy I know.

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

So I'm digging into SU tuning information and needle profiles. Lots to learn, and I love SUs! Making me realize how little I knew about them! Since I now have two sets of needles, each one with a dinked up needle, I figured I'd better start doing some research. After not being able to find a needle ...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Lol, well, just want it running correctly. Runs better than the factory EFI so far. Still need to get it out on the road for testing, but I'm sure it'll be great. I had the needles at .016 above the piston deck. I'm going to put them at .020 and see if that gets me just right. As soon as I find some...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Pfff, I've had lots of cars without power brakes. The 510, the Z race car. Ain't no thing! :D But they are nice. So after I got the car running well, I was still a slight bit too rich at idle and I tried to adjust the needle height again, but one of the needles was stuck. It now has a big gouge in i...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

So I'm not particularly pleased with the cheapy air cleaners I bought. They'll work fine, have some foam in them, pretty simple really. The big annoyance is trying to put the bolts in. I just started uploading a video for you all, and had a thought I can just put a nut on the inside of the plate als...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

HaHA!!! Not on the car, but since I finally have the new computer and got it all figured out, I finally tried to load photoshop again. Version 5.5 I got in college. Which still works fucking perfectly, so why would I change? And lo and behold, 1989-98 programs still work on the new windows unit! Woo...
