Re: Jacob's other projects
Um. I got it together. RIght channel working great. Left channel tweeter was half as loud... I still need to make the rear panel, and find an actual power supply for it. Also, I really should have taken some pictures, but its spring time, which means mountain biking! Went for a first ride and decide...

Re: The "Retired" 510
Yep, to make it smooth. They do it on the roof to at the A and C pillars. That is why you see 510keeper putting lead in those spots. Those spots at the window and trunk opening are to help direct water, or not to allow it to pool.

Line it up straight, use a punch set that has the little nub in the center (helps to keep it centered), whack it.

Re: Jacob's other projects
FYI, the stain I had issues with was from Verathane (Rustoleum brand). Just was too thick and didnt penetrate. I switched to Minwax, and you can tell, first coat went in deep. I just got done with the second coat, and its way more even. Now for two coats of clear (Satin). This is 5 minutes after I r...

Re: Jacob's other projects
Fucking stain. I knew I shouldnt have bought that brand. It doesnt dry, and it doesnt act like a stain. Its more like a gel. Its thick, and way too hard to see the grain in the wood. Look online and see a number of people say the same thing about that particular color...

Re: Jacob's other projects
Got some work done. I kinda made a complete oversight... and I knew it pretty early on. I did think of way to assemble this while keeping all the screws hidden... Anyways, everything is screwed together, except for the back... because Im not sure how I want to seal it... https://xmmexw.dm.files.1drv...

Re: Jacob's other projects
I did it! I made my very first mill program using Cam software! That took a few days to try and both figure out how to get the software to output correctly for the machine, and figure out the actual move settings to make it properly. And a super duper high quality potato vision video! https://www.yo...

Re: Jacob's other projects
The gist of it is that sound is produced from a frequency. Inductors and capacitors like to limit frequencies. So with the right parts you can give a speaker a range of frequency that it is capable of running and also where it is desired to run at. If you would look at the charts for these two speak...

Re: Jacob's other projects
Got the second crossover assembled. Took more pictures. So once you have a plan like above, time to make it! I have a few sheets of copper clad FR4 (fiberglass). Both sided. So I can make a 2 sided PCB. First I drilled all my holes. Then I sketched out everywhere I needed to remove copper to make my...

Re: Jacob's other projects
One crossover assembled. Soldering to those large panels of copper sucked. Why after I prototype something I usually just have some real PCBs made, and they come with a type of gold coating to help with the solder. https://0mmhxw.dm2301.livefilestore.com/y4mmY50jptAneH8S0dQGwE5pGkESlVsunz3AoyuoR8ezR...

Re: Jacob's other projects
I like projects... I have like 5 in various states sitting on and under and in my desk. But this one gets the limelight right now. I have a stereo setup in my room... but I hardly use it. Dont want to run a wire across the room, and all the audio comes from the right of my desk, and the speakers are...

I cant wait to see it sitting lower.
You may have to try to find a wheel with a flatter middle section. I do see people running 16x8 et50 on NCs fine. But its all about the rim profile.
