Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Worked some more on the BroHauler today. Got the rear brakes working. I was able to adapt the Suzuki Swift wheel cylinders pretty easily. That made an easy $8 solution for some otherwise unavailable parts. While I had it in the air I did a badly needed oil and filter change. The last thing I did was...

Getting really close. I love the concept you captured with this car.

Finish carpenters got started a couple days early. https://s31.postimg.cc/75m0ks5u3/20180423_182310.jpg https://s31.postimg.cc/lot5m7m4b/20180423_182208.jpg https://s31.postimg.cc/ovnp5ulzv/20180423_182414.jpg This was day 1 and they were estimating 5 days of work. Lots of closets. Lots of trim. Wif...

Re: Grandpa Car

Just long enough to put a couple miles on it. I need to plate and register it in a couple weeks before I can drive it regularly. Realllly want my garage finished.

Re: Mad MAx Dual Sport Apocalypse Survival Scramblers

Still have it for now. Dug it out of storage and went for a ride this morning. Need to order a new battery then list it in a couple weeks. I ended up pulling the engine last fall to replace the water pump seal and found that I'd put a thrust washer in the wrong spot when I did the reseal last year. ...

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Small amount of progress the last few days. The drywall guys have all the texture up. The finish is called Sun Valley and it seems to be pretty popular around here. https://s31.postimg.cc/6jpp2mubf/20180419_184716.jpg [/url [url=https://postimg.cc/image/w2i1fntav/] https://s31.postimg.cc/g49bpiz2z/2...

Back in town for a couple days. Not much was done while I was gone. Drywall crew continued with mud work.

Re: The "Retired" 510

If it's not ready you can work on it more when you get back -- but at least it won't be rusty.

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

It's just lazy drama queen stuff. I machined and hung doors for years so I know how little extra time it really takes. The equipment is fully capable of doing a clean job and the only extra physical work is 12 swats with a corner chisel and flicking the waste away -- literally 20 extra seconds on th...

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

I was out of town for 3 days to go to the swap meet but not much changed while I was gone. The septic passed inspection so it can be buried now. The garage doors and openers got installed as well.

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Stupid indeed. I machined a couple lead core doors for a medical building and they were ridiculous as well.
I also personally handled just about every door in that medical building at the base of the OHSU tram. I don't miss working with doors.

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Good analogy. Many of the manufacturers are moving away from the traditional pressed sawdust and using straw based core, referring to it as sound core. Not quite as heavy as the older ones but still kill some noise transfer.

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

I think the chains are kind of cool but there won't be any on my house. Just regular downspouts into dry wells. Meeting with the door shop guy this morning to walk the house to double check handing and size. I also elected to use solid core doors in all the room entry doors but will be using hollow ...

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

Thats a good suggestion. I doubt there will be more than maybe a foot of dirt over it once final grading is done. It also won't be under grass either so hopefully when that time comes I won't ruin much of the yard. I did take measurements and draw a treasure map though. My last house was on a septic...
