Re: My 1969 Datsun 521 kingcab diesel

The gas they sell these days rusts out empty tanks, you absolutely do not want a tank to be unused/almost empty, my work trucks extra tank got wasted in no time because it had less than a gallon splashing around in the bottom, and when I put fresh fuel in it it ruined the fresh fuel. If the 521 tank...

Re: My 1969 Datsun 521 kingcab diesel

This is what I did for the fuel filler as the way it was didn't work very well. https://s7.postimg.org/6g463kgjf/DSCN7339.jpg Well postimage still is not working, I will insert the photo when it starts working properly. The reason I went this way is because the tank is on the passenger side, yet the...

Re: LZ20 engine build

I don't ask for discounts, they used to give them to me when there were guys in there that could find parts, these guys at Baxters cannot find anything except maybe the door and their car when they get off work. The bearing place I ended up at told me the 305 they have would not work for me as it ha...

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet

My neighbor built a mount near his tailgate to mount a crane/hoist to pick up rocks off the ground after he seen mine I use to lift heavy stuff into my truck, he filled his driveway with rocks. https://s8.postimg.org/m8nmqfxth/DSCN7337.jpg Here is the start of filling his driveway. https://s8.postim...

Re: LZ20 engine build

Buying cluster gear/counter shaft bearings for the FS5W71B has become a challenge, I supposedly have 4 of the 56mm bearings coming from Georgia, the 63mm version(#22bc06s5x) for the 85+ Nissan 720 is not as easy so far, I have only one lead right now and I suspect they might have a minimum order, I ...

Re: Betty White, the poor neglected race car

Does your wood stove have a fan?
Do you have a fan blowing on it if it has no fan?
To make more room in front you can take a thick tarp or some other material and make a drape to cover the open garage door, you can then back the vehicle up a little into the drape and still have heat.

Re: LZ20 engine build

I made the transmission today that will go with this engine/truck for mock up purposes, it will be the transmission that mates to my LZ23, I actually put 2 of them together, one was made already but I didn't know a thing about it, so I took it apart to make sure it was good, I will be using the one ...

Don't let figuring out where to put them weigh too heavily on your mind.

Re: Around Waynos house

Right now I am trying to figure an easy way to move the 720 cab around on rough surfaces, it's out front right now in my way.
I was thinking about making a 4 wheel cart to set it on, but I don't want to make something I will only use once/briefly.

Re: Around Waynos house

Your right about that, the last time I had to walk the rest of the way home I had made it within 3 miles out of the 20 miles I had to get home, there was this hill I could not get up. I walked home, rode my bike back with an electric fuel pump, I installed it and drove home but it still felt funny, ...

Re: Around Waynos house

I don't spend that much time doing things, and I am certainly not in a hurry, I likely spent over an hour just deciding what tire to put on what rim, then I changed out the tire holder on the trailer so it would hold a 620 disc brake rim as they are wider and it was made for a 521 rim. The reason fo...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

It doesn't seem like it could pull out from under the head and block as there is a head bolt right there, but right on the other side of that head bolt is a water jacket hole, at least on my L block heads there is, can you see between the head and block, there has to be a gap somewhere as I don't se...

Re: Around Waynos house

I moved some tires around today after I put X-mas lights up on a customers house, I should not have gotten up on that wet roof but I felt guilty about cancelling last week, this year will likely be my last year for installing X-mas lights on steep roofs. Anyway I am getting down to having only sets(...

Re: Waynos 1966 datsun 520 ute

So I did a few things on this today, first thing was to re-time the cam on this one as it was also 1 tooth off also, my tool to keep the timing chain tensioner in place didn't work on this truck as I have an oil squirter in the middle down there, but I have two of them tools and I made the other one...

Re: Around Waynos house

So this morning I mounted 3 tires(P185/60R14), I mounted the 4th one a few days ago to test fit on the 520 driver side rear and I thought it will work, it's very close to rubbing the inner fender, but none of the other sets of tires I have will work, they all rub. These tires did not go onto the 620...

Re: LZ20 engine build

Well it does not knock/ping anymore with the ignition timing at 2 degrees before TDC, I suppose if I bought premium gas I could adjust the timing differently, but I burn regular so 2 degrees it is. It also appears that I am getting way better gas mileage, with the truck empty/no trailer I have got 2...

Re: LZ20 engine build

If you have been following my posts at the other site you will see that it appears how I set up an engine has been wrong(for over 20 years), even though the engines I have run fine(even on regular pump gas), the cam has not been timed correctly, this kinda stunned me, I am trying to get the work tru...

OK, so I made the throttle bracket, I couldn't believe I forgot it. I may have to do a little adjusting, as I cannot tell how much cable goes thru the firewall to the pedal. https://s1.postimg.org/27n21hxpbj/DSCN7280.jpg It's kinda funny, once I get done it takes me a day to clean everything up I ma...

Re: LZ20 engine build

So basically the engine needs oil and gas and I suspect it will run, but I have to make a transmission for it now. I did everything that needed done today, I finished piping the SUs, I did the air filter, bowl vents, coolant piping, vacuum advance line, crank case venting/PCV valve, I put the fan pu...
