Re: The new 1200 acquisition

1200 is now up in Beaverton. One car garage becomes a two car garage with Datsuns.

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

I have that exact same fridge in my garage too. Sounds like we're in the same mode right now -- pack up Datsun and clean up house. We list Thursday. How is the work space at the new place? Hard to tell from that angle but the 510 rearend looks right at home to me. Yeah, moving sucks. That fridge is...

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

Back on 4 wheels again, rear tires are good just need air. Sits pretty low in the front and high in the rear with the KA and 510 wagon rearend. Rear tires are high offset to make up for the extra poke on the wagon rearend. I kind of like the rake to it. You can see the terrible mess the garage is in...

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

I have a 4barrel carb mani for a DE if your interested ;) Also have a tow dolly you could borrow  Damn, wish it was for a single cam, no DE for me. Thanks Adam I really appreciate it. I'm going hit you up for the tow dolly, but been a bit of a change of plans on that end though so will prob...

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

Well no updates in a year...doesn't help when the car is 600 miles away! Anyways I've got a sunny day tomorrow and I'm finally putting the class III hitch on the back of the Toyota Sienna and renting a trailer to tow the 1200 up. Tow package was standard for this year Sienna up to 3500 lbs so I'll p...

I've been working on this thing for 3 years now, I'm kind of at the point I just want to drive it.

Re: My 1980 Datsun 720 diesel dually

I know this thread is pretty one-sided but I just wanted to let you know I'm watching. Carry on :D . Thankyou, I don't expect many to be interested in diesel engines, I write all this for others that have diesels that may read this in the future, but I also put it all down so if I have to I can com...

Re: The forgotten Beige 69 510 build - NWD edition

Actually, it was the workstation driving the print that died. I think the video drivers crashed a few times and then the print software locked up. We are going to build a spare print server today so this won't happen again. We talked about recovering it, but it was just as easy to let it go again o...

Re: The forgotten Beige 69 510 build - NWD edition

Unfortunately that print failed with about 90 minutes to go.. bummer. But it's re-scheduled and is printing over night, tonight. Lol, I so know how that feels. I'm curious how did it fail? Come unstuck or just printer took a crap On long prints like that you can sometimes salvage them by figuring o...

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

Finished and cleaned up the exhaust manifold and repainted with high-temp silver paint. http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy82/dguy210/9BD577CB-A47A-42A9-8B67-E590FD8F6BE4_zpsdt3wnfxf.jpg But I have a decision to make here. Picked up a different manifold and I have this distributor kicking around. ...

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

I did end up finding some 18mm and 22mm hardware, just not where I would have expected. Initially I was looking for a tap set and some nuts to weld in. However, 18x1.5mm is somewhat of a difficult size to find stuff for until I remembered that some sparkplugs and oil drain plugs use this size. So fo...

Yeah, I looked into that originally, the main hose runs to the block not the radiator though and the size was not so useful.

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

looks like it was meant to be there Yeah, but it has been a total pain in the ass shoving that engine into that small space and I still have a bunch of loose ends and other crap to finish up. Surprisingly today I also worked on the 1200! :fyea: Anyways, got the hoses I needed and finished up most o...

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

Made some time to work on it late last night. Got the intake mounted. Still need a 90degree heater hose, too much of a kink in the one I wanted to use. Also the top radiator hose I wanted to use sort of fits but is just a tad short and would be under tension, so need a new one of those also. Some ot...

No pics this time :( . Anyways, got a couple of days to work on things over the holidays. You'd think being unemployed would result in me having more time to work on stuff but it actually has resulted in less as I'm playing Mr. Mom to my boys. On to the Datsun. I mounted the fuel pump and I did end ...

Re: The new 1200 acquisition

Built this Friday night, might still revise it some or split it out depending on where I mount it. Two hose clamps on the high pressure/low volume pump go through slots I machined in the bottom. The other two where just to keep the foam on and could be removed. Not sure if I got the orientation on t...
