Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Alright, so on my list to fix is the puking rear axle vent for the 8.8. Apparently this is a pretty common issue. So far, the best fix according to internet digging from a guy who tracked his Mustang is the boss rear finned aluminum cover with the vent relocated to the top. It also has a giant baffl...

Re: Betty White, the poor neglected race car

Alright, so I got the new helmet with HANS attachments and a HANS device from Speedway. Just test fitted them and my chest is too big! The helmet works, but the HANS device is right up against the helmet. Just doesn't fit well. Checking with the regs, there are apparently some other versions that ar...

Re: Mobi-Datsun, the great white tow pig.

So this week we got the air pump that was dead off the van and the air tubes with bad one-way valves capped off. Found a chewed spark plug wire and Autolite spark plugs in it, so we replaced spark plugs and wires with proper AC Delco stuff. It's a sbc, not a Ford! The van runs better now, but still ...

Re: Gracie II the D21

Finally got my left pull, left pull while braking figured out. We found the nut for the center link wasn't tight at the pitman arm. It probably was tight initially. Found the shoulder of the ball joint wouldn't allow the nut to tighten all the way. Pretty close, just not quite. Added a washer there ...

Re: Mobi-Datsun, the great white tow pig.

Probably like 7 feet I think. I got a few more things done today. I got the tie downs done for the battery and put a block behind it, it won't move in transit now. the other thing I did was get the slam latch fixed for the slider door. It was not operating looks like somebody hit it with a hammer. I...

Re: Mobi-Datsun, the great white tow pig.

https://i.postimg.cc/PJNGZ72Z/IMAG3857.jpg All right, all the wiring is tied up now against the ceiling. I think I need to put some insulation in here although there's not very much space for it. I think the best way I could think of is getting some lightweight cardboard or other something small pl...

Re: Mobi-Datsun, the great white tow pig.

It does not currently. I was thinking about how I want to do that setup, probably will in the future. Eventually I want a generator in the back as well for an air compressor, so that'll be in the equation. Right now it's just the winch battery.

https://i.postimg.cc/R0nKS52Y/IMAG3849.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/YS10Dp5t/IMAG3851.jpg Booyah! Took all day but finally got my lights wired. The LED cheapo 12 volt light seem to work quite well. the knockoff weather pack connector kit I got for 25 bucks is definitely chintzy but it mostly works fine...

Re: Mobi-Datsun, the great white tow pig.

https://i.postimg.cc/054G6M6r/IMAG3816.jpg I just realized the image is reversed on that camera. I need to fiddle with the settings for that but anyway, used the porta band made into a table band saw today. It works so much better for cutting aluminum!! It has a little strap so you can depress the ...

Re: Mobi-Datsun, the great white tow pig.

I ended up getting the backup camera installed a couple of weekends ago. However the ball view for the trailer wasn't conducive to seeing if there were people behind me or if the car was about ready to fall off the trailer so I figured I'd wire in a second camera as the system was designed for it. t...

Re: Gracie II the D21

Sent my core camshaft off to Colt Cams in Canada, eh? today. I bomb-proofed it with some wood trim I had leftover, and some bubble wrap, and a cardboard box. It was 13 pounds on sending. The wife said that's going to be expensive to ship. I ignored her. And yes, it certainly was, lol.

Re: Gracie II the D21

My boss is super cool but I'm thinking about productivity and having my shit in the shop does not lend towards good productivity. Anything I do I finish in the weekend typically unless I can stick it out back. there's paying jobs and there's my shit, guess which one I want in the shop more LOL. Anyw...

https://i.postimg.cc/TPKJnqk1/IMAG3767.jpg Had to take off the camper shell to get this KAE, but it's gotten and back at the shop. Well actually it's at work just so I can get it out of the bed. Then I'll probably bring in the proper engine stand and bring the box van back to get it back to my plac...

Huh, odd. I've never replaced a brake light switch in any Nissan I've owned. Though I did replace a clutch switch I think. Oddities of climate I suppose.

Re: Gracie II the D21

The most offensive Nissan fail of hard bodies. The lock rod clip that always breaks in winter. Replaced! Now I don't have to go through the passenger side door. :)
