Don't get much more basic than an A-series. Enjoy the mental vacation. And good luck on your search for a cheap transmission. I highly recommend a dogleg if you can find one. They aren't ideal for a strong L motor but they're great behind an A. Considerably stronger than the the more common 60 that seems to fetch a premium.

Not rally and thrash on it. Just have fun. His real DD is an 07 Impreza (base model). He just likes gravel and dirt roads, and going off the beaten path. But right now he needs it be a second car.

Right now, looking at just swapping entire S13 front suspension under the car. Looks like Im getting everything except knuckles for free. The longer LCAs will help with camber. Just need to figure out a taller strut, not sure if S13 is taller or not... The rear, I think we will play around with how much lift we can get out of the stock links before the axle moves too far forward. I have a plan, but first engine needs to go back in. We are kinda thinking maybe a 2inch lift at max.

In my experience the B310 already has the longest strut of any RWD Datsun/Nissan.

I'm 95% sure the bolt pattern is different.

If you can find the old school Moog camber/caster plates, those are good for a 3/4" lift.

Old school,
I had a off road 510 back in the early 90s,that damn thing went just about any where, no issues,hooked up headlights,so they only would cme on(like daytime running lights now with a twist) :fyea:

That thing is seriously lifted. What all did you end up doing? Someone had spacers in the springs on my wives b210 on the front, then longer shackles on the back. All that to fit slotted mags :|

It's important to note a 1200 is fairly tall stock. Taller than almost any other Datsun. :rofl:

Front is sort of a 2" body lift. We used spacers between the crossmember and frame, spaced the TC rod mounts down 2", then made the strut housings 2" longer and used longer inserts with longer springs. All of the front suspension hard parts came from a 280Z, which had fairly long struts anyway, and it widened the front track 3.5" total. Total lift is around 3.5".

In the back we used an '81 200SX rear axle, which widened the rear track 3" total. Since it is a 4 link (not leaf spring) with coil springs, it was fairly easy to lift. We did build the body mounts for the control arms a little lower down than usual for some extra lift. Then we used 280Z front springs (trimmed down a bit) and made upper spring mounts on the 1200 frame rails. Only other thing was to modify the shock mounts on the diff to work with the stock upper shock mounts. Total lift is around 4".

Also I know the shocks will keep the axle from traveling to far downwards, but is there anything else like some kind of strap or chain or something for extra "just in case". Be the shits if you came off a jump and the axle went to far down and the springs went out :|

They can't actually come down that far because of the shocks, but we will be safety wiring them in place anyway. :thumbs:
