I kinda do. In my experience they are better for MPG and driveability on a stock engine. Personally, I think Webers are overrated. They will run pretty okay on most engines. I just think the Hitachi is a better choice for your car. My 1200 used to occasionally get dirt in the jets. I'd pull the top plug, blow them out, back on the road. Wasn't the carb's fault I had a rusty fuel tank. I even put an A14 Hitachi on the J15 in my brother's 520 and it ran great.

I would agree, Webers are over rated, but they have there place, Mike said when I bought the NL320 from him that he should have converted over to a Weber a long time ago, he was nice enough to change it over to a Weber clone before I took possession of the truck, he said it drove way better.
I am bias here, I hate all downdrafts in general, they are a pain in the ass as far as I am concerned, they have cost me large sums of money over the last 4 years, and I cannot adjust them to save my ass, but I can adjust dual SU side drafts in serviceable condition no problem, I can even adjust out of spec carbs to where they run alright, I have a questionable set on the work truck, but they run alright, so I leave them alone.
I have 5 vehicles with SU carbs right now.

They did not. All were A12, A14, or A15.

Pretty easy to put one in though... :D

FWIW, the 1200 carb with the 210 jets in it is a great carb for an A14/A15.

A lot simpler than the 210 carb and almost indestructible.

Nothing wrong with that approach.
I rebuilt the stock carb on my 510 and it has been running so much better ever since.

Check your throttle shaft for play before you go to far.

Carburetor is all cleaned and beautiful...start putting it back together and look at that, this piece doesn't fit. *lil research* they sold us a rebuild kit for a fucking 620. Now we wait again for the right kit. Should be here tomorrow. :x

On a side note we replaced ALL the vacuum and fuel line hoses. (Under the hood.)

I'm sure you'll get it, with a little patience.

On my carb rebuild I used emery paper on a piece of glass to get the gasket surfaces flat, things got wonky over time. I also had to helicoil a few holes that were stripped. I'm happy to have the stock carb on my 510, but some folks don't want to spend the time - they prefer to throw a Weber at it.

No. I've got some health issues going on and things keep coming up that take precedence. I don't want to over burden Walt. Hes already taking such good care of me.
