Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open if your truck needs that to warm it up, or maybe you don't have a thermostat.

And for those of you who noticed, yes, that is indeed a piece of cardboard in front of my radiator... My truck WASNT warming up enough, so I put that there and now once it's warm the needle sits right in half way of H and C, and it warms up quicker too. It was a quick easy, free fix to the problem.

Or too cold of a thermostat. My wagon never really got warm with the 160 degree, but it loved the 195.

I love this truck, but it looks like I might finally be getting a 620, my favorite Datsun pickup!
I drove a friend to go look at one to buy today, he liked it, but I loved it.
He asked me if he should get it and I jokingly said "buy it and trade me"
And he took it seriously, I didn't think he would. So he asked if I really would, and since the 620 has some carb issues I said "order me a weber since my 720 has a brand new weber on than I'll trade you"
Well he's buying the 620 tomorrow, ordering the weber on the 5th of next month, than when it comes I'll be trading.
Nothing is really 100%, but that's the plan and if all goes well than you guys will see my 620 soon

Oh shit I totally forgot, I need help guys! This 620 has SUUUPPPER slow wipers, what could be the deal with that? Motor just going bad?

35amp alternator is weak. wiper motor is tired... I know in my 510 (wipers werent super slow to begin with), but upgrading to a 50 amp alt made them faster, and then when I did the 80 amp alternator, the wipers went a very decent speed.

Rain-X the windshield to help mitigate bad wipers, it will increase visibility a ton.

The wiper transmissions on mine were rusted up when I bought it. I cleaned and lubed them and all was well.

Alright so I'll start by cleaning up all the parts.
But about the alternator.. I know everyone does the saturn upgrade, but on Ratsun I just saw someone say they used a 510 AC alternator, sad it's a direct fit, so I went in rockauto and saw them fr $50, and they had two different ones, one was a 50amp and one is a 60. This sounds like it's a lot more simple thag switching to a saturn alt, so why doesn't everyone do this?
Is 60 amps just not enough for some? But it is a 510, with l20, so I don't see why it wouldn't fit directly in without having to mod the wiring. As for as amps go, 50 or 60 is plenty for me, I'm not going to have a crazy sound system, or a bunch of additional lights.

Your 720 already has a 50amp.
If your wipers are slow a new alt isn't going to cure it.

The slow wipers is on the 620 not my 720

79.. But the wipers are fine now, we let them run and they finally just went normal, it was weird..
But can I put a ac 510 alt in to make it a 50 amp?

No.

79 620 has an internally regulated alt. All 510s had an externally regulated alt. Plus I think the 79 620 came with a 50 amp. You cant put a newer one like a hardbody alt in though, or your alt from the 720...

maybe.... pitman arm can be a clearance issue. Solved with small body alts (like the 79 200sx alt), or with the ZX water inlet which allows the alt to the be brought up higher and allowing a larger body alt.

I didn't know the 79 had internally regulated, I thought they were all externally regulated, good to know.
If it's a 50 amp already I probly won't change it, 50 is enough for me..
I can just take a multimeter to it to find out though right?? I don't know much about anything electrical haha

I just went on rockauto and looked at an alternator for a 79 and it says its a 35 amp.

the 620 internal alternators were started in 78 620 to be correct.

look under 1979 NISSAN 280ZX 2.8L L6 : Electrical : Alternator / Generator, theirs a 60 amp in their catalog. Not sure how it will fit so some fab work might be needed.

just looked at the ZX one, ill probly just go into the parts store and compare the ZX one to mine.
Has anyone done the ZX alt in a 620?

what about this one for the 200sx? i dont know anything about these, but it says its a 2.0 so i assume its a l20, so the wiring and everything should be the same right?

wish they would give more dimensions. See one is 5" and another is 5 1/2" diameter.

Measure the one you got is my guess.
