Lol! Yep, that sounds about right! Don't tell Rose!! ;) I'm super stoked to only have a small issue. Going to make a template box out of cardboard, then have my Datsun guru replicate it in aluminum. Going to put a large filter on top and in between carbs. Should be able to get enough airflow that way and I can still have my brake booster.

Figured out I can use a 280Z brake booster and master cylinder and the lines come out the bottom which gives me the extra clearance I need for the two and a half or three inch tall SU air filters. Going to try and find a reman tomorrow, or I may go raid Regy's field car. Don't know if that will still be good though.

Anyway, wagon runs well, getting closer!

Yawn. Drive it over here for proof.

I think the last time this thing ran was when you came over to my house.

What a test.

So I have the brake booster and master cylinder and KN air filters. Now the only problem is there's a sandwich adapter piece between the brake booster and master on the zs, and I don't have a Z with one. So it looks like since Pull and Save is bare, it's down to Regy's farm to get one off his parts Z. Which means I drive an hour to Sprague/Harrington and back, for a stupid piece of metal. Bah.

Can you make the spacer you need out of another one, I made one from a late 720 to fit the 73/74 Datsun 620 booster.

Good idea Wayno, but I don't see any that are close enough. Most just bolt right to the brake booster. I could make one, but the two hours it will take me to go extract one will be as much time as it will take to make a nice one, plus I don't know the thickness, etc. Think I'm just going to make the drive. I'll take Weasel with me, he'll have fun playing in the field while I get the adapter off.

The 73/74 620 spacers are hard to find, they only made that size a couple years, this is what I did, I took a larger type and drilled one to make it fit, and I took another spacer and cut it down to that small piece with only 2 holes, it took 2 spacers to make one that worked.

Dammit, no wonder I can't find a spacer, you stole the one I was going to use!! :D I'm just going down to Sprague. Not enough Datsuns in pull and saves right now, nothing to pick from. Booo.

Fucking stupid brake booster is offset 1/4" too high for the opening in the firewall. And because it's a luxury car, there's a double firewall unlike older Datsuns. So I'm going to go eat dinner and figure out how I want to modify the opening while making it look decent still.

I lied, it's not double firewall, the brake pedal assembly has a separate hole and there's 3/4 inch of insulation in between. But getting the pedal set out is a giant pain. I remember it from installing when I swapped to 5 speed.

So right now I'm thinking either carbide burr or possibly an air nibbler. The sanding drum takes forever to cut out 1/4 inch of material.

Hole saw braced with wood is another thought but I don't think it will work unless I remove the pedal set. Anyone else have any ideas?
