I'm looking for a v8 for my 280zx street car, I choose a v8 because they're cheap and powerful. I'm looking for around 300 hp, I need it to be relatively light (400 lbs or less w/ ac) with a lot of aftermarket and stock parts available.

Probably your best bet would be a Chevy 350. I believe that would be the most simple for you. I'm not sure about the ZX but I know that there are companies that make mounting brackets for the 280 Z.

The only way you are going to come close to the 400lb or less is by using an aluminum block LS motor. Best of luck finding one for a price your willing to pay.

300hp out of hte LS is a walk in the park too. All of them will make that much bone stock with a tune to the ECU.
