take some 300 grit to the shoes and wear them down a LITTLE bit. or if you have a die grinder or whatever stick a fine pad on it and goto down for a second.... Just graze a little off there to ensure its not that.

The drums were non serviceable according to orielly assholes. So I don't think the drums are too thick, maybe just the shoes??? Give the sand paper a shot on the shoes and wear them down a smidge....

Have you with the drums removed, had someone push the brake pedal and watch the cylinder extend and retract?

Ya that's part of what banner and I did yesterday. That's why we greased it, it the cylinder itself was opening and closing fine, it just wasn't sliding, so we cleaned it off and greased where it slides, moved ok after that.

problem solved. I didn't listen to my own rule #1 and make sure the shoes going on were the same size as the ones coming off. dunno why it worked ok for the drivers side, but the shoes I took off the passenger side still had tons of life in em, so I slapped em back on, readjusted, and drove around for about 30 minutes, braking at every opportunity. got home, checked the drums, no more heating up, and my brakes feel good, so good to go!
