Yeah sorry, I didn't intend to "show" anyone up, only that I've got some experience in the matter..... And to show another choice for materials and technique.

I like them both. Datmo is young, so him doing shit on his own, trial and error is awesome. Keep at it man! Klassic, looks like you've done this a time or two. Gives people inspiration and some insight / knowledge on how to, a different way and some ideas. Both are good :D

I def like the two piece design. gives it some sexy lines

I started by recovering bench press and other work out equipment cushions, using similar materials to Datmo's process. You just pickup tips and tricks along the way.

i DEF wanna try out the two tone type of design. you killed it with the door panels.
totally inspired to do some better stuff with my rear deck.

you think the foam and vinyl uou used would work on a piece of wood?
its a 2x4 kind of thing that some one cut and put in the car.
i painted it black but want to cover.

I think I know what material your talking about. It should work. Hit it with some 200-400 grit sand paper to give it a little tooth and take down the imperfections. The back deck of that Firebird in the picture is MDF that the owner had spray painted. The glue worked just fine on that. Just make sure you you follow the directions on the glue. Most people don't realize that contact glue needs about 5 minutes to get tacky before joining both sides.

To fasten the panels, I used some fasteners like these:
I've got an Au-Ve-Co catalog with about 50 different styles of these. National Fabric sells them. I like this for how flat the top is. It shows less under the foam. There are others that are better for other reasons. I still cut out a mm of foam that goes over the fastener, so it doesn't show. Just remember to insert the fasteners, before you glue the foam down!
