Maxima struts

#1

Post by DRIVEN » Fri Jan 17, 2014 6:27 am

I've done quite a bit of reading/research on the 280zx and Maxima struts. I have seen that there are 2 different spindle angles on the ZX struts. One requires camber plates when used on a 510 and the other doesn't. Anyone know if camber plates are needed when using Maxima struts on a 510?

I dont recall. I am pretty sure Rustina used Maxima struts on the blue/green wagon. If I remember correctly, while they are similar, they are not the same, and I would choose ZX over the maxima struts.

I know the rotor is just a hair smaller (2mm in diameter and thickness) than the ZX and they use a different caliper. Still, the Maxima is waaay closer to 280ZX than stock 510. I'll have to go dig up his thread and see if he needed camber plates.

I located his thread and saw no reference to camber plates. Went to PickNPull 1/2 off sale and grabbed them. According to my angle finder both the 510 and '82 Maxima have a 10* spindle angle. Looks like camber plates are unnecessary.
