Help me value this 76' 710...

#1

Post by dougm » Sat Mar 21, 2015 8:34 pm

My wife and I were out with my nearly 15 year old son today looking at car dealerships and we saw a 1976 Datsun 710 4 door car at the back of a dealership. Found out that it belongs to a guy that works there and he is actually planning to put it on the market soon.

So here is my question... how much do these cars go for?

It's pretty much rust free, manual trans, decent interior except for a couple rips on the front seats, needs exterior paint, engine re-built by the previous owner with 85XXX showing on the odometer.

He said he was going to list it for $3k but I don't know if this is a good price for these cars or not. My son really seemed to like it but I don't want to pay more than we should... especially for his "first car".

To be honest, I don't even know what these cars sell for after they've been fixed up with new interior and paint.

Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated!

If he doesn't see this post first, I'd pm redbanner and ask him. He'd have a good idea of worth. 3k sounds high to me, but I'm a well known cheapskate....so I'm probably off in what I think it should go for

actually, now that I can see the pictures better on my computer and not on my phone, I'd bet dollars to donuts that's the same car banner sold. same color interior, same tear in the same spot on the drivers seat, same gold engine block which I seem to remember someone commenting that it was rarely ever seen on l motors, usually blue. look in the 710 section, thread called purplebird f-u

You're right... it totally looks like this car. I wonder how much he sold it for originally.

Welcome Doug!

that's a cool car! You found the right place to get info about it.. even one of the previous owners.. lol. Banner is a good guy.. if it was his, he would be able to tell you everything about it.

I'd say between $2-3k is fair.. but I don't know shit about 710's.. lol

BANNARRRRRR... Where art thou beard of knowledge.

I seem to remember it being higher than that, I may be wrong though. my memory isn't as good in my old age as it was before. still wish I'd had the money to buy it when he first sold it lol.
