Cool store. Kinda looks like Radke's in North Portland.

Re: The new 1200 acquisition
Got a flywheel from Morrisun and my Rockauto stuff came in today. Getting closer
Still need to figure out what stickers are going on the 1200. I've got doubles of many of my B210 ones that will go on plus these:

Yep, I saved one of each color (4) for the 2 cars and the extras (6) are going with me to my local Datsun meet tomorrow night.510freak wrote:Gray wrote:If anyone is interested stickers are from here:

Re: The new 1200 acquisition
I'm pretty slammed with work until the end of October and have to fly out to a conference in Seattle (BMES) to give a talk for the end of September so not much Datto wrenching time. Mostly been getting parts right now.
Pretty newly resurfaced flywheel:
Brake cables, I bought 2 as the B210 is the same part and mine is old and stretched.
Also the radiator fans came in, this is 1 of 2. Not really excited about the red honestly but it was much cheaper than the black and the color does not alter the way it works.

Re: The new 1200 acquisition
That fly wheel needs moare lightening!!
Fans will be great. Dont see red ones often atleast. And saved money?! Hell yeah. Now it wont hurt you as much getting that flywheel done.
Actuly I imagine a guy like you knows a guy with a lath or brake lathe. Then just have it balanced!

Re: The new 1200 acquisition
Not going to bother with the lightening, too much money for not enough payoff on the A12. Also the A12 flywheel is already lighter than an A14. So eventually when the KA goes in the B210 and the A14 goes in the 1200 I'll put this flywheel on the A14.RedBanner wrote:That fly wheel needs moare lightening!!

Yeah, I'm not a big one on something being the "right" color as long as it works. That's how I ended up with a hot pink leathermen squirt, it was super cheap on clearance and I don't give a shit about it being pink.
I really wish I knew someone with a brake lathe. I have unrestricted access to a smaller lathe and Enco mill at work but they are mostly just a smallish shop setup for show (cheapish sort of beat on equipment, no real bits for anything, tight access, and in a heavily used entryway). It is old equipment my boss had when he moved here and it is mostly kept around to show visitors. Looks good to visitors but not meant to actually be used, although I do end up using the mill occasionally. We actually have a really nice machine shop and prototyping facility for our department where the real work gets done but they are really strict on no outside projects (we get charged for usage).

Re: The new 1200 acquisition
5 lds off a a12 flywheel and an a14 revs like a street bike. Its so awsome! But just one pound even is notice able.

Re: The new 1200 acquisition
Do you have yours lightened? Did it change the street-ability at all? I guess I could just get the A14 flywheel lightened when I pull it out of the B210. It probably could use a resurfacing anyways. The resurfacing ran me $40 out the door and took about 30mins. Lightening would be about a $100-150 and that would likely include the resurfacing. hmmmRedBanner wrote:5 lds off a a12 flywheel and an a14 revs like a street bike. Its so awsome! Re: The new 1200 acquisition
I had to slip the clutch alittle to take off when I started using it first. But got used to it. Up hill take off is where it was most noticable. But im allso talkin 11 pounds removed. Or one third the mass. 5-7 pound is my guess for a perfect street clutch. Moveing shifts did not realy change. And the only reason all my cars dont have one is ive just gotten them, and first excuse I have to open em up I will carve a huge chunk out the back of em.
My brothers l series fly wheel ended up to be 14 pounds and I could street it. Down from 35 pounds. My 510 flywheel is 7 pounds.

Re: The new 1200 acquisition
Ok got a question for you:
So I have a set of used A12 flywheel bolts from an automatic. Can I use these with a manual flywheel?
I put them up against the flywheel and the look like they have a good amount of thread poking out the other side. I believe that the automatic transmission bolts will work on the manual flywheel but not the other way around due to the manual bolt head being taller and hitting something. Note: there are no markings on the top of these bolts that I can see.
Also did these use a washer under the bolt for the A12? I know the A10 did but I just can't remember for the A12 or A14.
Does anyone know for sure?
I still need to get a few parts such as metal engine brackets, 71' early front bumper brackets, some belts, some clutch stuff (may have), and some other misc. items. I'm looking at having some time come November to put this all together. I'd like to be driving it before the end of the year.
