Firewall rubbers (lol)

#1

Post by izzo »

Anyone know if the firewall rubber is still available? Its the oval piece that both the inlet and outlet heater core hoses run thru with the two holes for each hose. Mine has all but disintegrated. And I would like to replace it so it won't get cut thru by the firewall over time.

the double hole type. where the heater hose goes in and out of the firewall

no, it was just the rubber piece that pops in. basically has a slit all the way around it and you put it in the firewall. half the rubber on the inside, half the rubber on the outside. IDK dimension :\ It's pouring rain sideways but i can take a pic if you want.

I have what you want, it's used and not in perfect shape, but it's better than yours and you can have it, just need to know where to send it.

You are going to be fighting them hoses, they are not stock, so it will tear up the firewall gasket trying to get everything nice.
Nissan had a pre-bent set of hoses coming out through the firewall, then made another connection, then they went to where ever the hoses were routed to go.

I'm down to get one from whomever. datsunmike posted me a part number, apparently you can get the new at Nissan for 2 dollars :| only problem is I can't see the part so I can't verify its the right one and not the metal one you were speaking of before.

I'll take a used one that won't crumble

The only part that is crumbling on this one is the very thin part, the rest I can twist into a pretzal, it will still seal just fine, it's yours if you want it, I just need to know where to send it.

If I were to guess, I would say that all these heater hose gaskets on the 720 were the same through all the 80-86 years, but I have been wrong before, and likely will be wrong again in the near future, it's all a crap shoot if you ask me.

My Datsuns, like good friends, have never let me down. At least in any way that was not understandable and thus fixable.
