No, I need to stop by and grab that other crank from you, too see which one he thinks will be best to use...

Re: The Blue gO_0n Build?
draynor stopped by last night to borrow a coupla tools......
and i cant leave well enough alone so we ended up:
deleting some un-used wiring in the bay
pulling his rad to flush it trying to figure out why he had virtually no heat
tossed in a new thermostat
and tightened some nuts n bolts
but i digress...
i looked up into the rafters of my garage and noticed the 280z center console i had up there that i forgot about......
fits pretty good IMO

I've always sucked at stick welding. Yours came out beautiful.
Did you guys try to flush the heater core itself?

Removing the heater core from the car is easy. I refoamed mine while it was out. Also let it sit for a few hours with CLR in it.
I also hooked my hose up to it, first forwards flow, then reverse flow, then forward flow, all until it was clear. I just hose clamped onto the firewall ports.

Didn't flush the heater core or take it out. Didn't really want to do all that at Adams place and take up a bunch of time. We were out there till midnight as it is...

I did stick welding too. Mine came out just like that. Stack of dimes laid out ftw!
Get on that wire feed. i stopped schooling right when I was supposed to start wire feed. Did oxy and stick, though. Wire feed and tig was what I wanted to learn the most

New pistons are now pressed onto the rods, also got the polished crank back. Ended up using a different one I had due to some scouring on one of the journals.
Almost time for some LZ

Honed the block last night, got to the bearings and I forgot the assembly lube. Hopefully tomorrow some work will happen.

Re: The Blue gO_0n Build?
We used the same assembly lube as I did on my L19, 50/50 of STP oil treatment and engine oil.
Plastigauged the bearings and all came back in spec, right in the middle.
Rings were checked for gap, and all came back in spec. (My L19 had like 3 rings a little tight). Rings went on. and then compressed. I managed to get all 4 pistons in first try. I was all "I dont know how this is going to work..." and its in.
Pistons look good in the block.
And some higher resolution photos.
Everything is tor
