Cleaned out/up the oil pan , timing cover , etc etc etc ....
Laid them out on the black metal work bench.
Will do a final pass with a razor blad , scraper , and brake clean + gas cleaning where applicable.

Also picked up some green plasti-gauge from NAPA !!! When (2) other parts stores were less efficient and less willing ... NAPA was more than willing to make it happen .... Thanks a bunch to Michael for the help through the years !!!

The engine didn't knock (that I could tell) , so I believe all will be ok... just a smart move as always as you guys know.

Well wen't to do my plasti-gauge tonight .. just before pulling off any main/rod caps ... decided to grab the crankshaft and pushed in/out-wards to check quickly for any serious play ... there's play in the thrust-bearing :-/ ... how much ? ... I won't know until I find the dial indicator w/magnetic base .. pffff [:rolleyes:] ... although I can see it by eye .... knowing me I'll be putting in new bearings if all measures out well irregardless.

Is it too late to put thread chasers on my xmas list? lol ... Handy tools for sure. What I really want.. is a straight edge. As in.. a true straight edge so I can measure heads and stuff to see how warped they are.
As far as the compressor.. it's air.. but not enough. I was going to suggest roloc disks for cleaning gasket surfaces. It takes like.. 5 min and you're done!

A true straight edge would be excellent to have !!
I've borrowed one in the past and loved it ... took very good care of it though haha.
