Re: 71 510 wagon - Mexican Red
Fuck it. Fixing it. Driving it until it's reliable enough to get me to Canby, then I'm headed to Vietnam until May.
Anyone need to borrow the 210 while I'm gone, let me know. I'd even sell it it you wanted it.

Re: 71 510 wagon - Mexican Red
And now, she's daily again. The l20b runs pretty well, made it to Canby and back on an l16 hitachi and points dizzy. Big thanks to skeletonbonez, h5wagon and draker for the help getting the car on the road for Canby.
Got a weber, a fresh radiator, brake booster, a head to rebuild, and some bump steer spacers at canby. Got home, put the rad, weber, and booster on, then made a whole new solid exhaust. Totally different car than what I drove to Canby 3 days ago.
Pretty much straight pipe out the back with a resonator under the rear floorboard. A little too loud for my taste, so I may add a muffler sometime down the road. But it sounds nice, and its really only loud if you're behind me.

Re: Rotten Red Goon
Aand it's fixed. Pretty quick head swap. Found it the old bad head was a a87 peanut.

Lol that was quick. So easy doing head gaskets when they don't have a bunch of emission shit.

Re: Rotten Red Goon
Yeah, yeah. New head's a 210 head so its sluggish as hell on the l20b compared to the old one. But she drives smooth and it will keep me out of trouble for a while. Still have a bit to do before I feel she's road trip worthy.
Got one more door seal to install.
Gotta fix a door latch.
Find a way to seal the hatch better.
isolate the exhaust from the body, rubber hangers or something
replace the alt, rewire the lighting system
rebuild the struts, put 210 strut tops on and install the bump steer spacers
drop the rear another 2 inches
get some nice 14 inch tires for either the westerns or the apaches
flush the oil system out, some water got in with the headgasket
tun my a series matchbox into a l series matchbox
Then it will be good enough while I plan the bigger stuff.
