Rory's 72 510

Had this for a while, found it on a orchard locally

I was trying to sell her to help buy a 2 door 510 but that fell through:(
And why I'm selling the 620, it is an auto with no rust but has some electrical hurdles

It's a project for sure but another Datsun saved is a good thing.
My problem right now is figuring out the ignition I spent some time tonight on the wiring and now have power to the starter and spark to the coil (when cranking) so hopefully getting closer to being able to turn the key and have her start.
I still don't have power to the dash?
Tonight I hooked these wires to the ignition switch after combing wiring diagrams

It's going to be a slow project this one.

Used to have a deer guard mounted on the front with arms that slid up the corners through the hood and bolt to the body
Got to love previous owners and their mods

It's nothing another hood won't fix, but it's to bad, it ruined what looks like a good hood.

It's got a lot of good things going for it. Like most "saved" Datsuns, it seems most of the work is going to be undoing what the previous owners have done to it. I see it has a hitch too. Just can't imagine towing ANYTHING with an automatic backed L16  .

Lets not forget I did buy it without a title and had to track down the brother of the old owner and convince him to sign the car over. Perseverance pays off!!!

Nice save!

Thank goodness the electrical on these things is pretty simple, I'm sure you'll get it sorted out in no time. That trunk lock and modified hood is a crack up, but we've all seen worse. It doesn't look like it's been wrecked, and unless it's got a lot of miles on it - I think there is a lot of life left in this one.

It cleaned up nicely :)

Got spark at the sparkplugs, I smell fuel but she won't fire. Maybe a bad carb I couldn't see fuel coming from the nozzle, fuel pump works. Might be ignition or carb oh what fun !! :fuu:

try drizzling some gas down the carb and choke it. If it start for a little while, prob the metering screws need a good douche.

Yeah, tried that still nothing. I got the carb off a friend and can't verify that it worked when pulled so I might take the carb off the 620 , I know that one works and can then cancel that as the problem

It's alive :fa:
Guess I had the leads on wrong
Sounds solid no knocks just dies after a few seconds , carb maybe? It kinda flutters when I pump the gas to keep her going.
Stoked the ignition wiring worked

stock carb? You can check the fuel level in the eye. If its a weber, pull the top off and check. If you have a fuel filter tho in the engine bay you can see if it has gas in there. I'd suspect if its the stock carb it may just be super old and worn out. maybe fire it up and do little bursts of starting fluid down the carb to see if it stays running like so. Could also have a serious vacuum leak causing it to die.
