Re: I want a 510 wagon
Yeah. that blue wagon looks nice.
Micro has a super clean nice 68 wagon. Worth the coin in my opinion. I sold my blue one for 3200. Rebuild L18 and auto to manual swap, new tires polished wheels, cleaned the electrical, interior was super nice as door seals were too.
So his should be right up there. (But economy today sucks, can understand if its just not in the cards)

I guess I should mention that I found a wagon! Made a deal with James (510 keeper) and it should be here early May......I will post when it gets here and start a build thread.

Gah! I guess the deal probably wont go through.........not James fault........I'll know in a week or so. Maybe I should just break down and buy one......So should I go with the 411 which looks more retro, and more rare, or a 510, which looks a bit cooler?

It's all personal preference.
411's are sick! But so are 510's....
510's part availability is probably better? kinda?

Yeah, 510 more popular and more available for parts........people are paying $600-800 for windsheilds alone on the 411.....if they can find them.

Both are cool - I lust for a goon myself.RATDAT3 wrote:So should I go with the 411 which looks more retro, and more rare, or a 510, which looks a bit cooler?
My younger brother got a 510 wagon a long time ago, I went with him when he went to look at it and gave it my thumbs up. He had that car for years, it never gave him any grief, it was great. He sold it without telling me, which I was sad to hear - I would have bought it. That was a long time ago, things are different today. With the current crazy for 510s and more of them out on the road, I find myself looking at the 410/411 instead. Sure they're small and slow, but I think they really stand out compared to all the other vintage J-tin ... just great style

Eh, Im not a fan of 411s. Look at the technical aspects, and on Paper the 510 is better in every way.

The 411 has more style--but the parts---so rare and exspensive!.......wait, you already know!K_trip wrote:Both are cool - I lust for a goon myself.RATDAT3 wrote:So should I go with the 411 which looks more retro, and more rare, or a 510, which looks a bit cooler?

Re: I want a 510 wagon
Its not about the double wishbone and solid axle, with crappy components and bad geometry. Its about looking super cool. And they do!Laecaon wrote:Eh, Im not a fan of 411s. Look at the technical aspects, and on Paper the 510 is better in every way.

Re: I want a 510 wagon
There is a reason the 510 is more popular. The design is classic. Much like how 2002 and E30s are.

Re: I want a 510 wagon
Personally I think they both look good but it's comparing apples and oranges. I agree with Jacob that the 510 is technically superior in almost every way. There is also way more aftermarket support, used parts availability, and interchangeability with other commonly available Datsuns. So from a driver standpoint, the 510 wins. However, the 411 is far less common so it's gonna probably get more attention wherever you go in one. BUT, parts aren't nearly as common and the cars that share common parts (or close cousins) are just about as rare. Basically you're gonna pay the roadster tax but not get as many chicks.
Daily driver -- 510>411
Garage queen -- 411>510
Daily driver -- 510>411
Garage queen -- 411>510

Yeah, I'm on the fence........It wont be a daily driver, but not a garage queen either......well, when I'm done, it will be under cover.......of some kind.
