This is interesting, but I don't have the room, knowledge, or the time.

Re: CL ads
Very interesting, indeed. I'd like to do an electric project someday. But not a 720.

Re: CL ads
Would be more interesting if it had the motor.
An electric car project would be cool, but I think I want to wait a few years for the whole battery scene to figure itself out.

It would likely be sold to me if it had all the parts in it and they were connected correctly, even if say the motor was burnt out, as I would know how it was supposed to go together.

And here I thought my RL411 was hard to find parts for...
1960 Datsun Roadster - eBay -> http://www.ebay.com/itm/171487003957

Re: CL ads
It's getting some bidders. I'd pass on that so quick... unless you can hand craft datsun parts out of sheet metal. A SUPER cool car.. but you are never going to find parts for that. Unless they had a bunch of these in Japan or something. And if they did have them in Japan.. it's probably easier to just buy on of those and ship it.

Re: CL ads
Your not likely going to find a door for that, I wonder what the story is on the missing door, I mean who would steal a door off that, and if one did, the whole early Datsun roadster community would likely know who stole it if it showed up.

Re: CL ads
Missing door isn't necessarily a deal breaker but I doubt you'd ever find a replacement. I think someone with the time and patience could fabricate a door since you have the other side to copy. Guys have scratch built cars for decades. The hard part would be correct latch and regulator.

I have seen 3 of those for sale over the years. Rare indeed. But not absolutely impossible to find parts for.

Re: CL ads
Not a project for a novice to tackle, that's for sure.
I don't remember seeing a reserve, but there is nothing about it now - so it will sell.
It will be interesting to see what it will fetch.
I will have you know, this has been featured on BaT (a day after it showed up here):

Re: CL ads
This electric 720 was sold today, I actually looked at it today myself, but there were a lot of loose wires/cables, it was to the point that there was no way I could figure out how it was supposed to go back together.
The guy called me later in the day to tell me it was sold as a courtesy, as I called before going there to make sure it was still there.
$250.00 was a deal, all the electric stuff could have been pulled, and one still likely could have gotten their money back scrapping it, it had a good windshield, and good looking tires except for the fact that it had been sitting there so long in one spot, that the insides of the tires were starting to show small cracks on the sides where it was half flat.
