I picked up some 4° shims yesterday.. I think I have a rear transmission seal but I don't have an old one to see the part number. . I'm sure all 720 trans have the same seal but I'd like to know part number. ANYONE?

Need to get to a store around here with some redline gear oil too.

I'd bet my bottom dollar the seals are all the same bro. The gears and cases and shit are different, but the seals are all the same. The drivelines are the same size in all the trucks. 4x4 or 2x4

I figured. But thanks. I did have one like I thought so I slapped that bitch in there. Also put my 4° shims on the truck. I need to take the radiator I picked up to make sure it's doesn't have more problems then the one I found. So after that! I'll be driving her.

If I can fix this one I'll try to. Well not this one but the other one I have. It's got some small leaks in the tank bottom side of the top tank but some solder can fix that. The other small leaks are in the core. Soo I'm not to sure if I can get solder in there to fix them. I think I'll talk to tdaaj or 'ted' and see if he's busy tomorrow. I haven't a torch or solder. Ha. Also only done a tiny bit of soldering. Well see.

So i just decided to buy a torch and solder.
Went to town on one of my radiators and I think I've fixed it well enough for me to drive it.. :) it has one very small drip. I will fix it. Other then that I let the motor run for a few minutes giving it some gas now and then and still only saw the one tiny drip.

Thought I was going to be able to drive the truck around today but realized that a shit ton of gear oil leaked from my trans after the seal broke. So I've gotta wait tell a parts store gets the same kind I used a while ago.
Don't think there's much oil in there now, otherwise I'd be driving now.

So i either didn't put my angel shims in right or I need to do something else. I went for a drive everything looked good no leaks as I pulled away but once I got more speed oil started spraying out again.
I put my 4° shims in under Well here...
Image

Then I got under the truck and put some washers under the trans to lift it up a little... I'm not sure if I busted the seal again before I put the washer under the trans but as I had the truck in the air I put it on stands, started her up and gave it a little gas. Slow speeds it didn't leak, but did leak after I gave it a little more gas.

I'll get her on the ground again.
Get the angle off the valve cover..
Driveline angle and rear diff angles again.

If anyone would like to come over and school me that would be cool. Haha. Other wise I think I fucked the seal again before I put the washers under the transmission so I need to change that outta there again??
Gear oil smells like fucking shit!!

Does my shim need to be on the top of the 3in blocks?
Seems like that's where I need to put it.
On top of the block.

YES!

You are changing the angle of the axle, not the block and axle. That would put weird stress on the u-bolts.

Understand...
honestly when I looked up the placement of the shims I never really found the something for lowered trucks. Everything was about 4x4 stuff. Wasn't sure if it was the same stuff. I could have looked a little better.
I did see a diagram but it wasn't set up like my truck really so it was confusing.

so my value cover angle is at 4 degrees, drive line is a 0 and the rear diff is sitting at about 4 degrees. That's on the ground.
