1982 210 Wagon Daily Driver project
I'm just gonna paste this here.
So I've had this car for a few years now, and until recently haven't been able to do much with it. But I think I've done enough recently that I should put up a build thread. Just some catching up...
here's what it looked like when I got it back in April of 2010:
Shortly after I got it we built a little roof rack for it
I didn't do much with it but put a new fuel pump on it for a while after that, but I recently drove it out to Oregon from Alabama and have had a much easier time getting parts for it out here.
I decided to replace the front end with round-eye parts. I got a new grill, fender and hood from eagle_adam
And last week I swapped it over from an autotragic to a 4 speed... but I have no oics of the swap.
I made a run up to portland yesterday and found a wrecking yard with a brand new right fender in the original box for $50. Hell of a score.
I'll be dropping it a few inches and throwing some different wheels on it soon.
That's all for now. Later dudes.
later on:
MOAR LOAR.
Or, just enough to make it not drag it's ass when I've got a full load in there.
And the wheels I'll be throwing on there once I get some good tires put on all of them.
And after that:
Still haven't put tires on the other wheels, but I did score some 510 hubcaps today for free.
I must admit, I kind of like the look.
Soon after:
Finally got the tires mounted on the wheels and rattlecanned the front fenders to match the body a week or so ago.
Then I welded up all the trim holes, rattlecanned some rust, drove it across the country again and got a 5speed

Re: 1982 210 Wagon Daily Driver project
Most Definitely. I'm probably going to get another engine from Eagle_Adam here soon and put a fresh heart in her, maybe even with sidedrafts if I want to get crazy with it. I washed all the grease off the other day and it doesn't look half bad, maybe I should have done that before Canby...
Across the country 3 times in the past year. From alabama to oregon, from oregon to alabama, then back. 3 transmissions later...

Re: 1982 210 Wagon Daily Driver project
It is! It gets the most attention. I have plans to clean it up soon though. Thinking a rebuilt engine and maybe sidedrafts if I strike it rich. Then a more careful rattlecanning to finish it off.

Question...
Do the wagons have the same 4 link set-up that the sedans and coupes do?

I see.
A Japanese wagon may have officially been added to my watch for list.

+1
They are worth it. It's still a smooth ride even with cut springs all around... Handles like a bawse, and has a cozy area in the back when needed. Brakes are a little less than adequate for my abuse though. Guess I should upgrade that stuff too.
Mine had an auto trans originally and after I threw a 5spd on, the rear gear ratio was low enough to put me around 3200-3500 rpm going about 70 on a less windy day.. With a headwind in 4th I'm still only in the lower to mid 4000s.
My speedo hasn't worked since I swapped in the dogleg so I can't calculate up a legit mpg, but I probably get lower to mid 40's on the highway.
I guess my list is:
Fresh heart
Maybe some carbs
bigger breaks

Re: 1982 210 Wagon Daily Driver project
That would be awesome. I'll probably just track down some bigger rotors/calipers that fit the front. All that early 80's stuff is common enough to experiment with. Maximas had good brakes I assume.
