Re: CL ads
Looking at that photo a little closer makes me think that someone cut the front trim off that fender, if that is the case, there is not likely much left on that little truck worth anything.

1960 Datsun 2 Door Station Wagon - $12500 (ojai)
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/ct ... 08728.html
The seller claims this isn't a production vehicle, but I think it was (in low volume) and the seller has the wrong information. There was a red one of these in SoCal years ago, but that one was outside and in bad shape. I think the guy that ended up with it had plans to make it (with a pickup) into a four-dour truck - or something like that - what a shame. This one looks like it's pretty much all there, with some body work done in the back. It appears to be in great shape, but the price is a SoCal price ... too rich for my blood.

^ Yep - I'm pretty sure it's a Datsun VPL221
Scroll to bottom of the page: http://www.earlydatsun.com/datsun221.html
This is the other one in SoCal from 2009 -> http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/2009/12 ... an-vpl221/
I think this one is still in Washington State:

Re: CL ads
^ Yep
This picture is from a car show at Doheny Beach back in 1997, it's rare to see them in this condition!
I contacted the CL seller, and I let him know it's not like I'm going to buy this - I wanted to let him know it's not a prototype. He seems to be friendly and easy going. He said he's just passing along what the previous owner told him. He said the trim is in great shape (except for some dings in a few hubcaps), but the rear bumper is missing. It runs well, and it stops well. It looks like it's always been in SoCal, and garaged.
If you think about the time and money it takes to restore one, let along trying to find parts, this would be an easy freshen-up ... which helps make the price a little easier to swallow, but still it's too rich for my blood.

I have one of those tops in my shed, I bought it a few years back, but one of the former owners fiber glassed the trunk lid shut(no trunk access).

Re: CL ads
just wondering. What year/s of roadsters will your top fit ?
if I had a roadster, I'd have that style of top cause of the rarity, the looks and for the extra inside store-age, great for when on vacations. Also makes a good conversation piece.

Re: CL ads
From that angle, if you squint just right, it almost has a VW type III fastback profile.

Re: CL ads
Mine is for the low windshield, 1967.5 and earlier, I have not messed with it lately because the roadster has a rag top now, and I am to lazy to remove it, actually I have no where to put it if I remove it, I have to much shit around here.Ni10 » Thu Oct 29, 2015 10:20 am wrote:just wondering.
