Re: WTB l18e intake manifold
You are probably going to have to make one out of a Z car manifold.620Turbo4X4 » Tue Dec 08, 2015 5:20 pm wrote:Looking for JDM L18E EFI intake manifold in any condition for my SC l20b project Throttle body, injectors, etc not needed or wanted...
I seen one in person for sale a couple years ago at Canby($450.00), he wanted another $400.00 for the head, and another one complete on Ebay several years ago for a lot of money with a stand alone harness.
I seen another complete setup several years ago for a lot of money in New Mexico or Arizona, I think that one had a Mega-squirt(?) harness/ECU.
There is a chance that "the510keeper" might know who had that manifold/head and if it is still available, they live in Northern California I believe.
You also might contact Brody/Datwifey on Ratsun, they live in the greater Seattle area(50 miles any direction), I heard they had at least one, and have made at least one prototype if not more, maybe they can point you in the right direction.
It seems to me that HRH on Ratsun had one he made from scratch up for sale a while back also, I seen photos of it, I wouldn't worry about if it worked or not, as he would tell you everything about if you ask, he just likely found something else more interesting to make and changed direction on the build, I don't recall it selling, just PM him and ask.

Re: WTB l18e intake manifold
Thanks Wayno for the quick reply. I actually did make one from a Z car. Problem is the Z ports are so small (1-1/8"). I was able to open it up to 1-3/8", but I'd rather start with the 1-1/4" l18e intake ports, and open that up to 1-1/2" for the cam I'll be running (.580 lift). I had a want ad up on Ratsun for a few weeks and got two replys. The first was a nearly complete system and he didn't want to separate. Second person had plans to use his someday... Figured I'd give this forum a try. If no luck I'll just run the intake I have.
May also consider some sorta trade for the z intake. Have about 30 hrs into it. Modified to use domestic type Bosch injectors and Chrysler cable type TB.

I think 1979/80 200SX motors had EFI ... you might have some luck sourcing one of those.
At least you're getting some hits. I'm sure something will come around

The napZ head has the intake on the passenger side, it doesn't work on an L head.

I though the 1979/80 200SX had the L20B ... but I could be wrong ... it wouldn't be the first time.
I remember seeing an EFI intake on Australia's eBay, a while ago, but my memory has known to fail me.
The engine used a carburetor but switched to fuel injection (and round instead of square exhaust ports) in some non-USA markets in 1977.Nissan_L_engine

Re: WTB l18e intake manifold
All the L block EFI engines/heads/intakes in the USA came over here as used engines, I don't believe that any Datsun dealership ever had a new car or truck with EFI on an L block.
I suppose some dealer could have ordered the parts and installed them on a new car/truck, but they were not shipped here with an EFI L block in them.
I am not sure about the dual SUs, maybe some new cars/trucks had dual SUs, but I heard most of them came on used engines from Japan.

Thanks K Trip. I saw a intake exactly like that with the head a year or two ago on eBay. I believe it was listed as from a l16. Out of what, I don't remember.... I do remember he was asking a lot for them. Way more than I was looking to spend.
What I'd like to find is one that's in pretty sad shape with a rusty old throttle body and such and bring it back to life, instead of one that's mostly complete and functional. I'm sure there's a few out there buried in dust...

Re: WTB l18e intake manifold
I don't blame you for passing on the high priced items, especially if you're going to hot rod it. There are so many things that catch my eye (I don't know why I look) that I'll never buy. It's sure fun to find something for someone else. You can bet if I see one, I'll let you know!
Not long ago I was on the hunt for a 200SX VG intake. Having Datsun friends in many locations (like NWDatsuns) really pays off. I got lucky, yellow620 (Jason) found one near him. Not only did he locate it, but he picked it up and shipped it to me - Thanks Again Jason!!! Of course I paid for the intake, plus his gas money and the shipping fees - but still it he went above and beyond.
Doing what it takes to keep Datsuns on the road!

OK - It was bugging me, what the heck did this intake come on...620Turbo4X4 » Thu Dec 10, 2015 3:03 am wrote:I believe it was listed as from a l16. Out of what, I don't remember....
I think it's a Japan-only Datsun 610 SSS-E L18E motor, but I could be wrong.

Still looking...
Started another want ad on Ratsun too. I apparently missed out on one a few months ago that was advertised on Ratsun, and sold through Fakebook “marketplace”. Now in the hands of someone who says they will “probably” not use it, but wants to keep it anyways... Damnit!!!
