Re: New 79 KC for my dad
More parts arriving

New gauge bezel to replace the broken one currently in it

Finally got my tools to the garage!

Even organized em

Took a razor blade to the gasket surfaces but wasn't happy

So a buddy brought this over

Much better! Thanx Jacob

Re: New 79 KC for my dad
Ended up realizing I needed a round port mani not the square one I had -.-
Soooo...

Time to de-smog it!
That's better

Even managed to con my mom into repainting the silver on the gauge bezel

Came out pretty good for the 1st coat

Maybe a 2nd tomorrow

White face gauges and an LED bulb swap? Yup! I think so!!

Found a brand new Webber adapter at a mom n pop auto parts store

Test fit #1

Still a few bugs to work out :/

Re: New 79 KC for my dad
Found a better tach delete plate in my stash so on it went but the gauges are on hold till parts get here

So onto something else....
Right, the pass door that won't open from the inside and stopped latching all together after it got towed to the garage.....

The guilt culprit

And more waiting for parts.....

Re: New 79 KC for my dad
Judging from the last time I say your garage, I have a hard time believing you'd have to wait on any part for a 620.

Oh the irony, with all the moving I've done my parts stash is now 100 miles away from my garage :/

Re: New 79 KC for my dad
Well shit....
Right after I got the gauges back together I remembered I needed to swap out the faulty speedo in the gauge itself so back apart it goes

Re: New 79 KC for my dad
So everything came back apart......
Pulled the faulty part

Swapped in the good one

And since it was apart again I decided to touch up the black paint in a few places and replace the clear plastic piece that covers the gauges since the one I have now is cracked
Should have a new one in a day or two

Re: New 79 KC for my dad
So while I waited for parts it's onto the next thing on the todo list!
Finish up the smog delete, conned a buddy into plugging a few holes I made in the exhaust mani

Pretty???? No not really but the welds are functional

Next was to find a solution to the broken studs

Which ended in blood -.-

But I got one punched thru, one more to go but I need new drill bits

Re: New 79 KC for my dad
Gotta replace the carrier bearing too cus

But I have had this little unicorn in my parts stash for a while, guess it's time to use it finally

Mmmm NOS goodness!
Did find it kinda odd that the carrier bearing I took out wasn't round....

Ended up handing this off to Nismodr so he can use his air tools at work to take a crack at swapping the new one on for me
He even brought me this tool to borrow, it's supposed to hold the torque converter in the trans while you reinstall an auto tranny - hopefully I can put it to use soon

Cleaning parts and stuffs
Just about everything under the hood looked like this

So I spent some time making it look more like this!

What are you using to clean up that aluminum? Looks good. I need to do that to my fuel pump also.
