Where we left off, in March, my dedication was slowly fading. I put the body back on, and the new roof line looked horrible ... (you will see below) ... so I didn't want to update the thread while the car was back in storage. I almost gave up on the whole project.

Before the body went back on, I had to finish welding the roof:

I went super slow welding, keeping each tack 10-12 inches from the last tack:

I achieved the taller (stock-looking) windshield height I wanted, but the roof line only looked "okay" from this angle:

and it looked weird from the side:

The bigger issue was the back end looked like it was sagging down on the drivers side:

I took the body back off, drilled three holes down the center line of the roof, and started trying to make the body level and even from the centerline strings:

and started hacking up the doors:

I didn't take many pics, but I had to remove all of the body's bracing to get it back to level, centered, and square'ish. Then I added a 1.5"x.75" square tube as rocker panels to keep the doors even both sides:

2dr doors are about 6" longer than 4dr front doors, so I made these 5.5" longer:

The roof had a nasty rust hole, before I tried to make it look like a coupe roof:

That rust made the coupe roof idea seem more logical, because I cut it out completely to bend the back of the roof:

The rain gutter line turned out better on the passenger side:

I sold the 2dr 710 recently and immediately bought the used Airrex Miata suspension I had been eye'ing for 8 months. Luckily they were still for sale and cheaper too:

So it was time to get rid of this ride height:

Sorry it took so long, but it's lower and here's how much I've had to cut so far. It is definitely structurally compromised:

I think it’s the guy.

Obviously my testicles haven’t grown to full capacity enough to attempt such an awesome endeavor. But I love watching it.
