Re: The "Retired" 510
Is it sacrilegious to replace panels that have no rust?
Because I want a new quarter and taillight panel. Just seems like a ton of wasted work that may or may not fail later on. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what I now know about working with filler. But Jesus, I have a solid drivetrain, great brakes, suspension, and interior. Why am I skimping on the body? I'm still under 10k on this project, a few body panels will put me close though.

Nice job! Candy coated for safety.

Re: The "Retired" 510
I've got a confession. I've been home for two weeks and all I've done to the 510 is take the cheese grater to the driver side quarter and taillight panel. I really like having a layer of paint over the filler, helps a ton in finding the lows and highs. Protip- don't wait as long as I did to shape your filler. It's much harder than in about 20-30 minutes after laying it on.

I have a friend that goops it on and lets it dry that way. Needless to day his body work never comes out nicely.

Re: The "Retired" 510
Thought I'd throw an update out there. Partner left me while I'm 500 miles away. Maybe an over-share, but it's fine. Anyway, I've been seriously considering selling off all my things, anchors with different shapes and sizes. That would include the 510. It's sad because I've never poured so much love and hard work into anything, and to watch it go away is gonna hurt. But, life will go on... Really it all boils down to my inability to rent on my own, I've spent years homeless looking for a place to live. Money plays no role at all.
I always said this wouldnt be another unfinished build thread, yet here it is, right on the verge.
I'll probably be embarrassed I wrote all this later, lmao...

Finish it and there won't be any regrets.

Re: The "Retired" 510
Hey guys. What is this car worth in it's current state? I could spray another coat of epoxy and reinstall every thing so it's legal. Nothing has changed since the last update.

Re: The "Retired" 510
I would definitely make it single color.
I dont know. I would post it at least at $6500. But that is going off the hip and not doing any research.

Re: The "Retired" 510
If it was all one color, running and driving, I think it'd bring that pretty easy.

Re: The "Retired" 510
You guy's are probably right, problem is I've lost the motivation after I realized I'm losing the car, and the house, and blah blah blah.
Hell, whoever takes it can have my compressor, paint and supplies too. They can learn to paint just like I was. I'll try and save all my pneumatic tools though.
Just darkness for now.

Re: The "Retired" 510
Its a 21 gallon harbor freight special.
I have an offer/buyer, he just wants it put back together, and he's ready when I am.
But you guys Make me want to paint it. I just feel like the interior of the car will be treated much better, and the interior is pretty dang nice. Just feel like the car will be treated better in general, if it looks better.

Re: The "Retired" 510
Well, I started it today
No fuss or fight at all. It started right up. Buuuuut, the MAF and it's evil self are giving me issues again. There has to be a shit connection somewhere... I'm bout ready to run all new wires to the MAF from the ecu.
Other than that, I just need to:
1. Fit the rocker panel patches
2. Spray another layer of primer
3. Fit the doors, trunk, and hood
4. Spray that stuff with primer ^^^ (all are mostly prepped already, and I'd sptay them off the car, I just don't have the space)
5. Fit the glass and all the trim.
6. Profit
Lmfao. No profits are to be had here. I'll be in the negative by like 1500-2000. Buuut, the way I see it, over the past 2.5 years I could have spent my time and money at the bar, or gambling, or shooting dope. Which, btw, it's been just over 6 years since I stopped that shit. And I'll toot my own horn about it all day if you let me

Keep up the forward progress. And don't forget, this is still a build thread (pics) until (pics) it's sold (pics) and gone.
