Thanks guys. Kind of a no brainer on this one.. especially since the old buckets were rotten. Somehow, the ones across the pond are in way cleaner, rust free shape. Lucky me

I survived. Despite a few black eyes and a concussion, we did alright.

Sounds very different from my camping, yet EXACTLY the same.

Shame on me. I've neglected updating my thread over here as well as the other place.

Was going through some recent pics today and found this one; not really an update, but a recent pic.

Image

Oh ok, fine. Here's something a little more "Project Thread" worthy..

Mad props to jesusno2 on flipping this crossmember for me. Sexy welds along with some gussets he threw on for extra stability. You're the man!

Decided that the factory coin tray was cool and all, but I wanted something more than the hum of the L18 to listen to(not that there's anything wrong with that). There's nothing sexier than a stock looking interior, so I opted to keep it factory in appearance.

Image
Image

The guts of the factory 610 AM radio(in case you were curious). A bit different then that of the 510, so I needed to reinvent the wheel that was provided in the "How To" section on modifying a factory 510 radio for MP3 use(http://community.ratsun.net/topic/55621 ... aux-input/)

Image

In the 510's radio, the wires you're looking for are the Blue, Red, Yellow, and Brown coming off the volume/tone potentiometers. In the 610 radio, there are Green, Yellow, and Black wires, with different style potentiometers, so I had to do a little more testing and trial before I got it right.

Seen here is the cluster of wires in the 610 radio that come off of the volume/tone potentiometer.
Image

Just like the Red wire on the 510 radio, you're going to want to "T" into the Green wire on the 610 radio. They are polarity sensitive, so be sure that you run the Black wire that goes to your shunt to the potentiometer side of the circuit. The Red wire to the shunt ties into the other end.

Image

Be sure to solder and shrink wrap your connections.

Image

Pic of the shunt.

Image

I like to have too much wire rather than too little, so I routed the excess neatly in the casing.

Image

Ran the wires out of the case through a small hole that wouldn't pinch the wires..
Image

All that was left was finding a ground and installing.

Image

I'm satisfied with the finished product.

Yeah, Luke really knows his stuff. I wasn't so hot on the idea of cutting up a 610 crossmember, but haven't a couple lying around made this seem like the easier route to go down.
