I woke up Saturday with a fucked up upper back. Put me out like all day. Today I majorly slept in and had shit to do that I didnt get done yesterday. Oh well.

From all reports, that's pretty much what Canby was anyway.

You know guys, with the attitude I am getting here about Canby there won't be any Datsun meets in our future except Blue Lake.
Some person(being nice) with a personal agenda puts on a meet the same weekend as Canby because the Canby crew bitched about him not giving the school the money that in my personal opinion should have been given to them that Sunday when the money was there and the truck had been won by Rick, it was a cash sale thing, the money was there, but that person wanted to toot his own horn and make some kind of big deal about presenting the money to the school that didn't happen, and he got called out as far as I can tell.
Now if everyone decides to go to that guys meet and not Canby, which that meet from the photos I looked at there were not that many cars there, then eventually Canby will fail, which will make that guy very happy I am sure, and when that guy dies(we all will eventually) then there will be no largest all Datsun meet west of the Mississippi anymore in Oregon, it will likely be at Shasta as they have opened up there Roadster meet to all Datsuns.
There were a lot of folks at Canby this year, maybe not as many as in the years past, but some person decided to hold his meet the same weekend, he is the one that did that, there was no vote of club members, he did it all by himself.

True. The pricing shit at canby is what is making people mad. along with 510s, Z, and everything else being what we get to vote on now....



The datslocos event is now being held the weekend before canby next year.... Fucking horse shit.

I wasn't very excited to hear that the events were on the same weekend...

But I think having the shows on different weekends could make things even worse.

If the turnout was anything like this year, it probably will just turn into the southern oregon pre Canby meet...

Well I have read a bunch on the Canby stuff, Most of the up-roar is over a few bucks(a few cups of coffee?)

I know it costs alot to get something like that together, Rent fairgrounds,insurance etc etc.
It looks like it was more relaxed this year for judging(this I like)

Most do not go for the "car show" per say,but more so for the people etc.
Its worth a few extra bucks (imo) to see some good peoples

I would have gone,but life just did not let that happen( I knew this prior,and didnt want to get my hopes up)

Price has more than doubled for just the people who want to camp. And we are forced to pay to get in to camp, which also puts us in the show... But the show is shit with only 3 categories.

Would Canby be better off being more like Blue Lake?

I think that Canby is Canby, it should be what it is, but new folks have taken over and there were some changes that hardly effected me as I go just to park in the corral and walk around to buy things if I find what I want, and look at others vehicles and talk with the owners.
I don't camp because I live close enough to drive there every day, but others don't live that close, and the changes have effected them.

Some of the Seattle guys didn't come Sunday this year for the show because of some kind of mix up on the Sunday hours, that was unfortunate, as they have been there every year I can remember since I have known them and have won awards, but they didn't think it was worth coming down(6hrs driving round trip) for a couple hours, and I am sure they would have been unhappy with the vehicle categories also.

It is unfortunate that another person(not group) has decided to compete with the Canby show instead of putting on their own show a reasonable amount of time away from the Canby show, and it is obvious to anybody on these forums what is going on, again this person has picked a date to compete with Canby(one person picked this date, it was not a club decision as far as I can tell), and now the rest of them club members have to deal with this agenda that this one person has.

I don't disagree with you about that, Wayno...but...I think the shows being on the same weekend is better.

Al's was Friday/Saturday. Canby finale is Sunday?

Where one wants to camp Friday/Saturday is open for discussion.

For those of us that live out of town having two events on different weekends so close together is not an option. Not for me at least.

If I come back it will be for a weekend only. And I will not choose between one or the other.
It's both or none.

With that...I am not a fan of camping at Canby. Getting locked in at some place I'm paying to be at. No.
Whereas at the other event you are allowed a bit more freedom. Hm.

You have to look at this the way it is, the guy should have given the school the money for the truck raffle, but he had to be called out.
In retaliation he started his own show on the same weekend as Canby, as a group there is no way that Datslocos would have done this.

There is a bit more to it than that. But, 1.) Old business and 2.) That business is none of ours.

Maybe the show started out as a spiteful act...but it is and was done. I don't think that is the case with him anymore.

My thought...going to one means I miss out on seeing people and cars that will not go to the other.

A group can let something like we have here separate us or make it work.

My opinion of Al is what it is. As well as is yours. People have what they have been given for a while now enough for their thoughts to be solid. And I'm not trying to sway yours.
It's just about trying to get Datsuns together.
