Got the cr80 home tonight and apart...
Found out why the motor was locked up.
Grenade.
The wrist pin bearing feels worn. There's some side to side play on the crank to rod bearing. Idk what the tolerance is. I'll have to hit up the cr forums and get some insight . Probably have to split the cases anyways to get the chunks out. Fucking people anyways. Maintenance isn't hard. It's a lot easier to replace a piston before it explodes.

hahaha ... I tried to put a comment in the other day, but found this was locked.
Grenade.
It's a two stroke, no big deal. Going through pistons and such is normal maintenance - right?
It looks like a fun toy, even for a big kid ...hehehe

Exactly
Some kid had it and rode the shit out of it. I can tell no maintenance was done. He had it listed in CL for 250. I talked him down. Then down some more... then he left. And I had to deal with his dad... who knew nothing about it. He said he ran it out of oil and the transmission locked up. I giggled inside. I nit picked it more then. Basically got it for nothing. Was gonna fix and flip it. but Idk now. Probably keep it and let the kids ride it. Meaning mostly me and maybe the kids once lol...
I need to get the king cab done so I can sell it and get me a bigger bike
Well, guess it's time to lock this one up. God damn it.

Cuz my bike is gone. But starting up again Lolz
Pic time.
The swing arm bolt is stuck all to fuck. Whaled on that fucker for an hour. Nothing. Got it hot then let it cool. Nothing. Gonna have to drill it out then take it in and have it pressed out.
Some pics before I started cleaning. I scrubbed it some and didn't take any after pics. I'm not going to deep clean it. Just a good scrub down. Then wash after every ride.
The swing arm bearings are locked. The link bearings are all dry as fuck. So new Bearings for link , swing arm , rear wheel. New engine bearings and a top end. Should be a ripper after that.

That i do. Splitting the cases will be my biggest challenge,. top ends are a breeze. never done the bottom. It's mostly just clean up...
Bearings, top end, shit like that are a breeze man. cleaning isn't shit... Used to washing bikes anyways i guess. we shall see.

I hear ya ... top ends are a breeze!
I guess every motor is different, but on my Kawasaki triple there are only a couple of tricky things. First and foremost is making sure all the pins are lined up with the cases. If not you mess up the cases, which sucks. Beyond the basic stuff common with any trans or motor, making sure to seal the cases completely is very important (as I'm sure you know). Once together I do a pressure test of 6lbs for 6 minutes, sealing the carb mount and having a plug with a air valve on the exhaust. If they don't maintain that 6lbs for the entire 6 minutes, tear the cases apart and reseal them.
On my Kawasaki triple it's a pain getting the kick start return spring to stay in place while putting the cases together, making a leak even more likely. Even so, once you've done it once it's never going worry you again. They might not be as breezy as a top end, but they're not too bad ... two strokes are sooooo simple ... gotta love'em

Thanks blue!
Yeah, the bottom end really shouldn't be a problem. I've seen a thousand videos. You gotta make sure the trans doesn't fall apart on you when you slide the cases apart. Or at least keep them in order. Gotta watch the washers, put them back on same way they came off. And kick starter return spring. don't eff wit it lol... PITA to put back i guess.
Like i said, seen a thousand videos. It looks simple enough. I've got a few dirt bike buddies in the area that are pros with it. I don't think I'll have a problem.
The only problem I'm having now is the PO did NO maintenance. More or less biggest issue is that the swing arm bolt will not come out. I'm going to have to cut it between the swing arm and the motor, then press it out some how... I've heated it up red hot, full can of PB blaster.. Nothing, hit that bish with a 5lb sledge for hours... Nothing... There's nothing keeping it in there meaning no C cips or whatever... It's just lodged hard core..
I pretty much stopped there for now.. It's the last thing holding it up from getting done. Once i get the bolt out I will place an order for some bearings, a piston kit, and a couple odds and ends needed (like the chain adjusters for the swing arm, swing arm bolt, rear hub bolt... little shits)
more pics once i get there.
how she sets.
