Well, when I was in there originally he asked if I wanted gloss, flat, or matte black, or if I wanted some crazy color like green or orange or purple. I thought he was joking so I said purple. We bullshitted for a while about what I was doing with the car and on Wednesday he called to tell me it would be ready on Friday, and then asked if we were still on for purple. Fuck yeah we are! I thought you were kidding but I guess not, do it! Dudes at the shop were laughing so hard when I picked it up lol

The amount of fuckery that's just plain stupid I keep finding is starting to piss me off...

Fuckery? No, that's just buying a used Datsun. When I first saw my wagon I thought the engine was out. Nope, it had raised rally springs in the front and 2" lowering blocks in the rear. Someone did that on purpose then drove it long enough to completely destroy the front tires.

Lol, some of it is buying a used Datsun. The c clamp holding the exhaust to the manifold in place of the missing stud for example. Seats with only 2 bolts holding them in on the other hand, is just dumb fuckery. Especially since one of the two bolts on each seat was a redrilled hole, so it's not like they were lacking the tool to do it. Thin sheet metal wrapped around part of the exhaust and held on by clamps is dumb fuckery. Normal Datsun would just leave any rust holes that may be there lol

This happens every time I read through an entire build thread.

Yes to a good home, and noflers, the car going away isn't the one the build thread is about. The 710 is still kicking in my garage, my garage just leaks, and it rains a lot up here. The 510 deserved better than my skills could ever give her, and quite honestly I like the styling of the 710 goon better

I used some of the money to buy a boat...family grew to 4 of us, and my step son is about to go through puberty and likely a large size change, plus I'm not exactly tiny either.

Lol, oops. I didn't connect the two cars, they're different colors, and a 510 not a 710...

+1 for boat cars!

Anything specific I should look for driven? The beast has 200k miles, but was pretty well kept.

It's a 94, so lt1 and 4l60e, I know the Trannies can barely handle the power, and the optispark can be a bitch. Other than that, I got a steep learning curve lol

Biggest potential issue is water pump leaks. That, in itself, isn't really a big deal. But if it's ignored coolant leaks on and into the Optispark (distributor) which can leave you stranded. The LT1 was the bridge between tradition SBC and LS so there were some experiments. Optispark didn't make the cut. They're actually really reliable as long as they aren't water-cooled.
Aside from that just treat it like anything else. Maintain the fluids and keep it in reasonable state of tune.

4L60e was pretty decent by '94. Just service at regular intervals.

Mmk. Water pump was changed out in the last 2 years, tranny serviced 2ish years ago, 6 month old ball joints and tie rod ends, fuel pump about 3 years ago, plugs/wires/tune up misc about 2 years ago. Planning on having a shop nearby do a check up on it to give me an idea of what it needs, I know of a few things but I'm sure the old guy I got it from didn't know everything that's wrong with it. Ac has a bad ground somewhere, trunk release from inside the car isn't hooked up, needs a control arm shaft kit and steering shaft is worn some, posi is potentially slipping. But for 1200 bucks, with 800 bucks in receipts for front end work in the last 6 months and 400 bucks worth of tires at about the same time, I can't complain

And yeah, the 4l60e seems to be decent, I've just read that they're close to being overmatched by the lt
