not 100% sure why but maybe with Christmas so close, people are saving their $$ for it would be my guess.

once the holidays are passed, I'll be posting the Datsun's on craigs list in California and back East where Datsuns bring more money. Should I mention Jay Leno in the CL ad's ? ;)

Redbanner suggested I polish the Datsun's to help sell them. At the moment, I'm trying to clean out the garage so I can get it in there to do so. Once the 69 521 is done, then the 72 wagon will get the paint buffed out. This will all depend on the weather since there's no heat out in the garage, yet.

I like that idea. If max profit is the intent it may be worth sitting on until spring. Seems like people can't resist blowing their tax refund wad as soon as they get it. Give it a good detail, maybe come up with some stock wheels and caps, transfer the title in to your name, then try ebay in April? I bet that would bring good money. Whatever you decide, it looks like a great truck. Someone is gonna get a nice, solid example of a 521. GLWS.

(Hint to prospective forum buyers: Get it while it's cheap! ;) )

Hmmm, get it back to the stock look, I like that idea. I'll look today for the wheels, saw the 521 hub cabs yesterday and I know I have tires which just the other day I was thinking I need to use them some where.
need to decide to paint the wheels red or off white ? White will stand out where red will blend in.

reminder : transfer title into my name.

The wheels that are on it now I'll just throw them in on the sales ( more bang for the buck) for the new owner. Plus less stuff around here. :fyea:

Thought about Ebay but their fee's are way to high, that's why I quit Ebaying 3 years ago. I'd sell $100 worth of parts and PP and Ebay would get a 1/3 of it. :?

a little update. Re-posted the 69 521 yesterday and had a few emails this AM. One CLer was a flake which I told him he was and said, no reason to bother me any more since you can't stand behind his words (not my 1st or 2nd time with this person ), the other person was a retired body man/car sales person and he's very interested in it. He told me if I'd had lowered it, he wouldn't have bothered looking into it. Says he likes to keep vehicles stock look. I like this guy, hope he purchases it.

well, it's still up for sale. I was looking to get around $2000.00 for the 521 but now open to reasonable offers. I did a compression test on the J and came up with 147 to 150. Got the emergency brake adjusted finally. The only problem I've come up with is when the brakes are applied, it pulls to the left. Not sure why, I've had the front wheels off,( several times), re honed the cylinders, adjusted the brake shoes and it still pulls to the left. I'm done working on it and don't have the time to waste on it any more. Battery NOT included.

have a Idaho title but have NOT transferred it into my name cause by law, it doesn't have to since it's from out of state. The 521 is located in Clarkston Wa. Serious inquires ONLY please. I'll pay for the title transfer from the last owners name into mine ONLY once a down payment has been made, payment non refundable. If it doesn't sell, I'll just part it out in the future. Hate to but I got priority's that are more important.

anyways, anyone seriously interested ??

bump'in to the top.

wonder what this 521 is really worth ? I've been getting real low ball offers.

tell me what you think it's worth. If it's real low, don't worry, my feelings are numb.

thanks for your input. :cha:

I sold my old 521 for 1500 bucks, and feel that was too low. It was super nice and clean, too.

I'd say 3500 is fair, but that still seems kinda cheap. IDK... I see them listed from 2k to 3500 these days, but they aren't stock clean original like this

I think there are several factors, it's not as simple as pricing a wingnut online.

* Location, location, location - the same vehicle in Main would fetch more than it would in Costa Rica, also downtown does better than rural.
* Quality of the presentation - a well written ad with good pictures will get more responses than a simple note at your market bulletin board.
* Easy to deal with seller - a seller who doesn't have the time or patients to deal with questions and tire kickers will miss out on more deals.

Nice truck - GLWS

Had a person call yesterday that used the NADA classic to get a value on the 521, which I really could care less what they got to say since their site doesn't ask questions like mileage, condition of the body, interior , paint etc etc etc. He says it's only worth $1300.00 but after I looked at NADA, it's more around $1550.00. If I do sell, I still got to put out around $85.00 to transfer the title. I'd be satisfied if I got $1500.00, which leaves me with $1415.00.

For older cars and trucks, I am not too keen on Kelley Blue Book nor NADA.

I've looked up values with Hagerty - it's still an average, but I thought they tracked the market better.
It makes sense too - since they specializes in classic car insurance, they have a pretty good database.

However, they don't have a 1969 truck listed (at this time) I could only find the roadster and 510...

found out from Washington DMV that you can NOT sell a vehicle while the title is being transferred into your/my name. The new owner has to wait to receive the title back from the State.

With that said.

received a $100 to "hold" the vehicle until it's in my name...... sale pending and the new owner is local. WOOT!!!!!! :fyea:

That is a beautiful example of a 521. No shame in asking from $2000 to the stated $3500 range.

GLWS. Letting go of this one will give you some breathing room around your compound.

As far as the brakes pulling left-mime do too. I just tightened the right more until it was less sketchy.
Been daily driving the 521 for a week and the brakes feel great. Very confident stopping.

I've tried every trick in the book to get the 521 to not pull to the left except replace the wheel cylinder/s. I've been told that might be what needs to be done. I could of put more money into it but I've got other projects that I'd rather put money into. Besides that, I made a few bucks off it.
The new owner asked if I work on Datsun's, LOL, of course I do. So guess I'll be getting paid to work on it now and then.

I did my daily driver 521's brakes right after I gave up on the red 521 and have no issues.

I'm glad I sold it to a person here in the valley, get to see it once in a while, he own's a ACE hardware store plus he's got the bucks to dump into if he need's to.

you mentioned room, that's what I'm striving for. Got more Datsun I'll be putting up on the market real soon. Scrap prices are down, way down ( here in the valley only) so that means either part out or sell vehicles cheap just so I can move them. I'm looking to move and relocate in the near future.

I'm still missing pieces on my 521. If you offer up any part-outs I'll jump in.

Just the normal wants. Some needs. I'll PM you a list. None of it is dire.

My next big wants are a 4.11 rear from a 79 620 and split bumpers.
Everything I'm missing is just trim and stuff. Mine is actually really complete.
