Got another 6 or 7 cranks out of it before the it decided it didn't want to anymore. Starting to think maybe the battery is just weak as fuck, causing Shitty spark. May explain why it was running Shitty before too, o only time it's ever died on me while running(snowstorm 2 years ago in traffic with lights, heater, and wipers on, apparantly too much for the alt) it was running the same way right before it died. Thoughts?

Also went to look at the ball joints/ tie rod ends on the 710. Either I'm looking at the wrong thing when it comes to the ball joints, or the replacements I have look nothing like it, nor do any pictures of em that I can find. Pics in a sec, stopped to smoke.

Old one still in car.

New one.

Old one doesn't have the flange with all the bolt holes in it. Or I'm looking at the wrong thing which is always possible with me

Also odd, now that I've gotten a good look at the passenger side, is that the two sides seem to have completely different parts on them.

One is installed with the nut up, the other down, and they have a different shape and size to them

Well, I soaked joints and rods in pb. Will probably do that for a bit before tackling them. So I started on a cosmetic thing that I've been tossing around in my head and finally said fuck it. Apparently this car was originally yellow, if it hasn't ever been fully stripped down and repainted(highly unlikely) but I know the Adams stripped off the exterior paint and spray bombed it white. However, I'm not a fan of white, and it sat under an oak tree in my driveway so it's only sorta white now with leaf patches. And it's got some rust(by datto standards). Somehow the floors are solid ask the way through, not sure how that happened. But I just so happen to have a spray can of claimed rust neutralizing paint. I sprayed a skid plate for my z that was nice and surface rusty about a month ago with it, and the rust hasn't shown through, so I figured I'd try it out on the engine bay. Did a bit of cleaning and masking on a small portion and sprayed it.

After. Looks a ton better, so I'm gonna slowly work on masking and cleaning shit off, as much as possible, and make the bay go black. The outside will eventually get a clean/sand/spray job in purple. Wife's favorite color is purple, couldn't be more fitting for a "violet", and the main reason is that in about 8 years I expect this to be my son's first car...and he'll have to work that much harder to get laid driving a purple station wagon. I can only do so much to prevent things, and he'll do what he wants to at that point whether I tell him it's ok or not. But I'll be damned if Imma make it easy for him lol.

They're both mounted in the exact same spot, and to the same things, just took the pictures at different angles. And the first picture looks like the replacements I have minus the flange. second one looks nothing like what I have. I'll try to take some better ones tomorrow, and not be lazy about moving the steering wheel so the rotors are out of the way. I've got a pretty bad back, so once I get down on the ground I don't like to get up unless I'm done or I absolutely have to

Drivers side.

Close up of what I think is the tie rod end and the ball joint

Passenger side

Drivers side was taken from about where the door is, passenger from the front of the car. Best angles I could get

First pic is the tie rod(see where it is close to the brake caliper, that is the steering knuckle, the ball joint mounts under this)

Second pic, is the drag link(tie rods attach at either end)The drag link attaches to the pitman arm(this attaches to the steering box)
This is for 510,but similar design

^^ Pics you show are numbers 11,9,15(in the illustration)

Ball joints are under the steering knuckle(under the strut)

So apparently I'm just not looking far enough down then. Will check it out tomorrow when I get off work if I have the energy. 9 months of 6 10 hour days a week has absolutely throttled me. Thanks lou!

Didn't have the energy or motivation today. Not sure when I'm going to. Family issues blow.

Ball joints will be at the top and bottom of knuckle. What I do is jack the car up. Then grab a pry bar and stick it between the upper or lower control arm and try to move the knuckle to see if there's any play in the ball joint. If the boot has just some weather cracking then usually can be replaced but for all the work I just replace the ball joint. Always get one with a zirc fitting. And only a small amount of grease shot in there. if you put so much grease in there and it squished out the boot then you're in trouble lol.

Joints and tie rod ends are shot, knew that when I bought the car. Thing rolls down the road like a drunken sailor.

Still better than rolling down the road like a honda.

May look better, but I seriously can't take it down a 2 lane road or one with ditches without being scared for my life. And as Shitty as it can be, I like being alive. I also hurt enough as it is, don't wanna hurt anymore than I have to lol. Therefore, Shits gonna get changed(plus I already have the parts...no point in not using them)

I've been told they are, but haven't gotten any confirmation from someone that actually has a 710. Quite honestly, the main issues this car has that I've been working on(brake master, tie rods, ball joints, carb) I've been doing a combo of trusting banner, who had his hands on the car before Dan got it, and confirming what he said with some research, but nothing overly in depth. Mostly just enough to confirm that what he told me is the probable cause, really is the probable cause. He attempted to rebuild the carb, bled the brakes(I re bled tthem in hopes he just hadn't done it enough and save me getting a master, but after 3 bottles of brake fluid he was right lol),and warned me that it would randomly try to put me in a ditch. Even if he's wrong about the joints and ends, no reason to not do em and not have to worry about em for most likely the rest of the time I own the car. Short headache for another 30 years of not worrying about it is ok in my book

I think that keeping it out of the ditch/in my lane is important, it is second to having brakes, they are the most important to me.
I almost ended up in the ditch when driving the MGTD down the freeway, it has not been on the freeway since, that was probably 5 years ago.
