Yeah there's dings absolutely everywhere but not much rust except the trunk which is see through. I'm just collecting my parts right now just to get it running good. I don't really care much about the look of it, I just want the rust taken out. I'm not going to paint over that patina though, maybe clear coat it.

That little car ran pretty good when I last sat in it. Id suspect the dizzy. Or a vacuum leak. The dizzy was just one I had that seemed good. Might check to make sure it didnt move some. Time the ignition . And check for vacuum leaks. Those adapters suck (short one peice webber plate) and it was leaking realy bad when he got it. Might have loosened up again.
Id help fix it if I was closer.
But im not....

I can try and help fix the thread tho lololol

It does have alot of dents. But I realy like it anyways. The lower you get it the better it will look too.

Yupp that's it, just as I got it as far as I can tell. I actually found a rat nest in the headliner too lol fun fun fun all the good cars come with those I hear! :troll: I'm definitely putting it on coilovers when the time comes

Don't paint it. That thing is perfect!

And you don't need coilovers when 2 split collars will run you $20 from eBay.

Its on cut coils allready. And I think the big ass bump stops, is what its sitting on. Up front I mean.

Alright guys, in two weeks I'm bringing it into my advanced auto tech class. At this point I will have $3000 dollars, and want to get my car stopping on a dime, cornering very well, and looking awesome. Looking at the 280zx stuff, it seems pretty cheap from rockauto.com but I'm having a little trouble with choosing coilovers. Definitely want adjustable ride height for winter/summer mode and adjustable camber in the back so I can get rid of that god awful "stance" look. I was thinking troy ermish or techno toy tuning.

Either are good. But really why would you adjust per season? just set it and forget it. In that case you can get pipe collars/clamps or whatever... Cost only a fraction that way. You'll get tired of adjusting them sooner or later and they will stay at one height. You get a 2" drop when going to ZX

I say set it once with a set of split collars.

$2980 left to spend on awesome!

My faverate formula is, zx struts and brakes, with either 210,b210 1200 or z car springs and perches, with a 210,1200 or a10 top hats.
With 2.5 coils cut off and lower perches mounted at stock zx height. This will pree load the spring alittle, and realy realy cuts body roll down.
With my combo you will lower the front just over 3 inches, but have more suspention travel than stock.
The whole setup with brand new rotors and calipers all the parts and inserts for just under 500$, and handle like a 1500-2500$set of coil overs.

In the rear the only ways to fix the camber and toe is to A. Raise it. Or B. Slot the crosmember.
Either way the toe will change as the suspention travels. Thats the way it will allways be with 510 rear suspention.

Does the spring choice affect the final spring rate? I need enough to support a ka24de along with my spirited driving style. Maybe 300lbs spring rate?

I actually have no idea what spring rate I would want in the front

How about using the 510 springs, perches and top hats? Would that give me the same handling or should I use 210 stuff?

The 210 stuff is thinner than the 510 stuff.
Automatic lower.

You can.
To go lower. And improve handleing and ride. You will need shorter struts.
There are many ways to go.
Zx struts are the obvius answer because its as close to a bolt in swap as possible.
But the zx springs and top hat can be to big for 510 body.
So even then you will have use a different top hat and spring.
Your cut scrings and perches would work fine.

Jacob, I think, has the ZX top hats.
Just a little with with a grinder to inner-most edge, I believe.

How wide of a tire and rim can I fit under my rolled fenders? I was thinking something like 195/45/R15x7.5 0 offset both front and back sound about right? no camber plates or anything

Am I reading 7.5 rim,with 0 offset?
If so,thats pushing the limit, with rubbing for sure
