Today I went to Lathrop to pick up precious cargo, to see a Bluebird and ultimately just say hi to a old friend of my dads.
The precious cargo was a fuel sending unit given to me from Gino (AKA Datsloco) Gino, if you read this, thanks a million again for the unit!

I gave the bitch vinegar, bitches love vinegar.

took her apart, cleaned contacts as best I can.

Thought this looked cool, didn't to it on purpose

Cleaned up pretty good

Again, Thanks a million for that piece Gino, Seeing those dimes was awesome as well. B)

It's true...
I got rearended.
I was pulling out of the parking lot, car died because the motor was still cold, idiot behind me in a ranger floored it.
Pulled over and started crying. not like a bitch but a silently stare and cry. lol. This car is my life.
Why I didn't bash his head in, I don't know. I have pretty good control of myself.
My friends are really sad too. They love this car haha. All the while the stupid fuck was bragging how he doesn't have a single dent on his ranger.
I really don't know why I didn't smash his face.

Home for the holidays.

Also, person that "Fixed" my car did a shitty job.
But i'll live with it for now, just because I don't want to put up with another month and a half of his shit.
I'll drive her around for a while, on sunny days.

The driver side vs pass side.
The area above the tail light is supposed to be flat, not rolled like the passenger side.
I'm just going to buy a whole new panel and replace it.

I cut off a filler neck from a newer car, and im trying to retrofit it to my 510. So far, everything went smooth. I forgot to take pics of the final product, but I need fuel safe hose to join the steel pipe to the gas tank.

ZX wheels are growing on me

I tacked them bitches in with the gas tank full

Lets just say i was in a coma.
Officially a LZ22.
(camera is broken)
L20B Head Gasket on a Z22E, D81 block. WILL NOT WORK. I used Z22E gasket, from a normal Z22 block.
Image

Drilled holes in block (NERVE RACKING HOLY SHIT)
Image

Port matched the intake/head ports and smoothed the transition.

Assembled!

Right so, everything was going smoothly until I picked up the MIG gun. I suddenly forgot how to weld, or today was just not my day. I WAS going to cut and tweak the tube that goes from the lower block to the PCV but that all went to hell after I blew a hole into the tube. No matter, I can fix that still.
The current problem is that I cant seem to find a Manual brake pedal around here, so i'm going to cut my Auto one so it fits. I dont see why it wouldnt work, for now at least.
I finished assembling my engine completely today, worked till 9.
Things accomplished today:
Pulled auto tranny, and driveline. Seems the "Shortened driveline" I bought a while ago was stock. lol.
took apart pedal assembly. I concluded that there is no way in hell im going to take out the whole box
mounted clutch master, got a general idea of the routing.
Things to do still:
Fab tube from crankcase to PCV.
Fab Tranny crossmember
Shorten driveline
Fit auto brake pedal
Bend clutch lines
START HER UP!!
I pulled the engine out of my 510 last week Tuesday, and thats when this swap started really.
I would have gotten to it earlier but the dude that did my paint said he'd buff the car in the same day, and here we are.. two years later.

Also I'd like to point out that my old L20B was pretty worn. Glazed cylinders, sludgy crankcase, and worst of all it was running pretty lean (Thanks to Mr. "I can tune a carb" over here)
Add to that an exhaust leak and a tiny intake.. it now makes sense why it didnt have much power, but at the same time it did.. I mean I could swing donuts no problem, and pull on a old farm truck F100 lol. If I was getting 80hp to the wheels at best..

I'm even more anxious to see what this fresh LZ has in store.. though I think the 32/36 might be a tad too small for it.

Much progress today.
Should hook up exhaust and intake mani tomorrow, and measure required driveshaft length (280zx FS5W71B.) as well cut the hole for the shifter.
I ordered a 280sx transmission mount, it should be here on Tuesday, that'll be the same day I figure out the tranny crossmember.
My deadline to get it driving is Friday at the latest. I have a swap meet to attend on Saturday, im hoping to make it in the 510.
if not i'll tow it over there.

Transmission Crossmember fabricated and installed today! All systems go!

Need to make minor adjustments to carb and she should be road worthy!
All aforementioned problems are fixed! Smoke and wierd smell were due to solvents used to clean deck surfaces, or Gaskets seating? No more smoke or leaks.
Though i should look into advancing the dizzy/oil pump drive a tooth

Yeah so I was going to instal my "ZX" coilovers today but I ran into a bit of a problem
I got my 280zx rotor in the mail, look at this beautiful thing
Image

Anxious, I run to the shop to install these things. but weighing them in my hand I notice that they are HUGE!
So I compare them to the "ZX" rotors
Image
hmm wait hub looks a little weird
Image
Image
Wait they look like stock 510 struts
What the P/N on them
Image

ok looking at the spindle..
Image

FUCK.
FUCK.
I was hoping to pull my front wheels in, looks like thats not happening without camber plates. IDK about those brand new rotors either.

L20B head gasket on KA24DE head.
Image
I dont have a Z series gasket but im sure its closer than a L..
How cool does a KAZ22DE sound?
Here are my ideas thus far
Z22 block, L20B crank (fully balanced) IDK on rods or piston yet. I know the DE head has quite a big combustion chamber, so I either need high pin height pistons or boost to make up for lack of compression.
Dont tell me to start with a Z24 or KA, neither have balance cranks, nor have the ideal rod/bore ratio for high revs. Yes my goal is to achieve high revs, with or without boost. Im just not sure on the pistons speeds, C/R or Rod/Bore ratio I want. Or boost. Im aiming to use Nissan parts, but if I need to use different pistons and rods so be it. I dont plan on running lots of boost either. ~10psi, R1 carbs or EFI. Id need stand alone ECU because of the block head combo.

or I may just throw this whole idea out and hold out for a SR20VE. I just want a high revving sumbitch. and still streetable. The VE is perfect for this I think.
