To do list
Fuel line from tank to pump needs hooked up.
tighten down driver side motor mount.
Put the little line holders back on the auto lines to radiator.
Install radiator.
Drain oil put fresh in.
Top off oil & coolant.
Give her a test fire!
Then I need to time it, and need to heat her up and hot set the valves.
At what point does brap brap happen?
Was hoping tonight. May look like tomorrow. Nobody has the effing water pump gasket in stock. FUCKING christ. I hate getting up at 5am to give the GF a ride to work.

Yeah, nobody can get the gasket in till late this week. But everyone can get a new water pump next day (with gasket...) go figure. So i just ordered a new water pump. Fuck it. Need to get it done. 23 bucks for a new water pump, not bad lol.

That's not bad. I would have done the same probably.

A-motors don't go brap brap. They make whatever noise a sewing machine makes.

well i got all the way to the very end. filled with water and its literally pouring out the side of the motor. I don't know from where. could just be intake/exhaust gasket, could be worse. IDK... I'm done fucking with it.
It's going on CL for sale.

Giggity!
I think I have this problem figured out. I ordered an intake/exhuast gasket for a 79 210 with a 1.5. Its missing the water ports on the gasket. 81-82 have the water ports (long round ovals right below the intake ports)
Pretty sure that's what is going on. I torqued those nuts down tight as fuck hoping maybe it was just loose. Sigh, what a pain in the ass. Gotta remove the 3 nuts on the pipe studs, all the nuts on the intake/exhaust, remove some wiring, throttle cable blah blah blah.. Yank it out, throw the new one in and give it another go. Haven't even test fired it yet. IDK if it will even run yet. Shit like that is such a downer. I'm invested in this a lot and who knows if its even giong to be worth it.
That green 69 wagon I had. I spent 8 hours removing a head, installed a new one with all new gaskets. It fired up and ran great for 8 seconds until the cam dowel fucking broke
What a let down.
This is the one I got.
This be the one i need

That could be a problem, but not a game killer.

And now look at what that motor became! Though yes, that head is gone.

Well theres your problem, gaskets are upside down. And yes tim the gaskets make a huge diffence. The intake ports might have been filled with.water.

lol. I noticed they are upside down in the pictures too.
I don't think water would have got into the intake ports. The water ports sit below the intake ports. so should have been pretty much a straight shot out, plus there is some gasket between the intake/water ports... I'll know when I pull it apart I guess. Could always pull the plugs and kick it over a few times then blow it out with a compressor if I need

Not all intake ports are the same, and some gaskets would fit in a way that would allow, potentially, some water to get into the intake. Just a heads up so you dont let it sit for a week and get bigger problems.

Thanks man.
The motor sat out for a little while. It had a little rust top of #2 I think maybe it was #3? But was at the very top, above the rings. Cleaned it with some emery cloth and blew it out with the compressor. one intake had a little rust on it but I cleaned it off too. it was not serious, just like a light orange dusting. Rubbed off with my finger and then blew it out. Also hit it with some brake cleaner then shot 8 gallons of air thru it to dry it/blow it out.
It won't set. Needs to be a driver last week. Gf has had to call in a couple times due to this fucking thing or the baby sitter flaking out. Probably gonna get fired now. And well, that will lead to new problems.
Anways, calling napa now. hopefully its just a day out part again instead of a week plus shipping.

of course. napa can't get anything local it has to be shipped here from another fucking state. so looking at 15 for gasket another 15 for freight and a week waiting. Jesus fuck.
