Orange = Where I need to pocket groove on either the head or the block.

Green = Where I need to plug.

White = Water passage

Space needle = Seattle from Sunday morning

This is going to be a sweet setup!

Gotta get these things in a hot tank. Then I can put them in the CNC for mods.

Next up on the order list is the timing component kit. 64.99$ Autozone

I am playing around with two ideas for the oil feed on the head.

1) Mill a grove pocket into the surface of the block where the orange paint mark is shown in the picture posted prior to this post.. This groove would coincide with the center feed hole on the head.

2)Plug both the block feed and the head feed holes. Then remove the ball bearing plug from either end of the cylinder head oil galley. Tap the existing hole from where the ball bearing was and run a remote pressure line from the Block Galley.


My concern about the remote line is lack of equal pressure that is suggested by the original feeds. That feed from center out rather than end to end.

Would this End to End idea create an over-oil situation on one end of the cam journals and a scavenge on the other?

Im glad you got this old beast, me and my brother worked out so many deals toward me getting it over the years, never worked out tho, then he sold it while I was out of state .. but hey, shit came up I guess, cool to see it on the road again. And I lookforward to what kinda bits you make. If you start thinking about making oil pans, let me know BEFORE you get to far into it.

Whatcha got in mind? I will be having to make a dry sump system for the engine I am building.... Well I wont have to make it dry sump. Just kinda wanted to.

What I was thinking is my brother has a nismo aluminum pan, with baffles and windedge trays and exanded capacity, its a great shape other than one dent holding one of the trays closed, and very sought after. And buy the looks of your other parts I bet you could make a duplicate, or better. One.

That's where I'm going

I will have to machine it from several parts then have my buddy Sam weld it up with the TIG . Haven't started my design yet but had the NISMO pan as inspiration.

I bought a set of CVK Keihin carbs for the motor project. I think I will try a fitment to the reg A12 to make some manifolds for..

Just a heads up, the brake master doesn't leave much room. I had to get a pretty tight S bend when I made the manifold for my Mikunis. Was worth the effort though. Ran good -- sounded great! Non-issue if you go that route with the Mazda head.

The rear carb's air cleaner rested on top of the master cylinder's reservoir. Completely stock A15 that I think was a JDM takeout/import.

No I dont mind at all! reference pictures are needed.

Looks to be 7-9" runner length. Yeah with the Mazda head I shouldn't have an issue.

Tonight I took out the old headliner and took off the sun baked rubber door trim. Doing some deeper investigating of what I have to work with.

What I have found is not impressive.. Looks like the roof was used as a walk way. Its been caved in slightly at some time or another.

Floors are in dire need of some cancer removal. I see nothing less than a total take down, Media blast, and metal work. Typical Datsun tin.

Oh, I like where this is headed.
