okie dokie
drove to work.. did just fine.
just took my break to test if the belt was gonna squeal with the headlights on. it does... pretty bad. stupid old belt.
gotta see if i can tighten it up anymore when my shift is over. anyone got any grape jelly? lol
noticed i might have installed the passenger side rubber isolator upside down.. the oil pan seems to be sitting on the crossmember oh so slightly.
makes the whole truck buzz at around 35-40mph.. kind of annoying..
something in my steering column likes to make a ton of noise from the vibration too.
just in the 30 miles ive put on it, its smoothed out some more.
it runs really well.
im diggin it!
more to come...

back again.
50 miles yesteday.. another today..
noticed at lunch thats its smoking. but only on acceleration. mainly right off ildle and it stinks like carbon and fuel..
i think its running kinda rich.. these small cams dont help either.. the ports did have alot of carbon in them, so running fuel across it is prolly burning off now..
in any case, its running better and better everytime i drive. it.
the engine rubbing on the crossmember is getting more and more annoying too. ill fix it next weekend..

Better to catch it before it rubs a hole.

yeah, its on the top of the list for when i have time.
i think im gonna pull the steering wheel off and see whats rattling in the column. its getting louder. lol
in other news, this engine smokes. typical DE issues.. never seen a DE not smoke when it was over 100k..
not a big deal. gonna get the cams and a tune up on it, and i bet itll stop loading up so bad.. its over carbed. i miss my long duration cam events... lol

Are you still running the L series 5 spd that I sold you years and years ago?
With the bent shifter?

prolly shouldnt say anything, but this trans has been pretty good to me. it lasted behind 3 engines, and is on a 4th now.
i would like to have a C-type ka trans, but that cost $$..

My steering wheel was wobbly in my B210. I had to pull the horn button and tighten the bolts. Glad that shit didn't pop off while driving.
Speaking of. I have a datsun wheel adapter and a choice of steering wheels to install in my 720. Think I might go pull the wheel off that black 620 and see what adapter it is. Maybe it's a grant! Maybe its a maybolene. Bahha.

well the plates are expired now.. state said on the registration notice that i have to get new plates too.
kinda bummed. i dont wanna pay for new plates either..
hopefully tomorrow i can get a bit of work in on the truck.
gonna try and fix the motor mount issue that lets the engine set of the crossmember.
get the other steering wheel on it.
find whats vibrating in the steering column.
get a new throttle cable.
i need some tight 90* 2.5in tubing bends to finish my exhaust too. i dont want it blowing on the tire anymore. the oil smoke makes it not have much traction sometimes.
more to come..

Why are they telling you new plates are required. Did you change counties or something?

wooo...
drivin it to boise and back again.
it does pretty well on gas. but i have been driving the 2500 recently. that fucker is only getting like 11mpg...
noticing that the heat is never coming up. temp gage stays in the cold. the first time i drove it before the cold snap, i did get it past the cold section, but just a tiny bit.
the radiator is hot to the touch when its ran for a while. i get heat from the defrost too.
its the same temp sender from the last engine too, so i trust its working.
id have to guess the thermostat is stuck open. at least id think it would be. i never pulled the t-stat housing, so for all i know it might not have one at all.
more to come...

if the fluid is moving soon as you start it up, I'd say the stat is open or their isn't one also. Might want to install one since winter is here, you'll need the motor to warm up quicker, other wise it will always be cold blooded.

oregon has that rule too. It seems like they have only applied it "Sometimes". Seems like the older rigs with the yellow/blue they never say anything. The new white with green tree needs to be replaced cuz the reflective shit isn't as reflective. I don't think it has anything to do with cops being able to see, not see. It has to do with the red light cameras. When they flash it lights up your plate.... Notice it's not reflected straight behind or just to the sides. But if you hit it with light at some angle the shit lights up? haha. Red light camera fucks!

Never heard that about Wa or Or either. Every one of my cars has plates older than that. Original yellow plates on my Cutlass black '35 plates on my pickup. Even the Christmas tree plates on my Neon and El Camino are close to 20 years old.
Greedy bastards. It never fucking ends.
