Yea... I still need to un bury it from my pile, and just put it in my car... And the collars, well you can probably just have them too.

So I did go out and weld the struts. Put my Tire up to it, and now it rubs the strut. And then I thought, well this is the driver strut. So then over to the passenger side strut, and the tire barely clears. I mean, it will probably touch once bolted down and weight sitting on it...

I tried to look, but I couldnt see any evidence of the strut being bent, and I know ZX struts came in 2 different Cambers... Straight edge says tubes are straight.

Hubs spin the same on both struts.

Sigh. Maybe 5mm spacers for now.

Of course... As I was taking a shower I thought about something else... My Weds didnt have clearance problems with even the collars post crash. And there is no way that 7mm offset would change things that much... Weird...

Ok I think I figured it out. The driver strut may be bent, but I kinda doubt it. The difference is nearly nothing. Also the Rikens are actually +17 offset... Which really isnt supposed to work on ZX struts...

First off, here is a picture of the Weds of unknown offset on the driver strut. These tires have a rim protector, and stick out a bit more. That said because of the sidewall profile they actually cleared the shaft collar with ease.



Here is the Riken on the passenger strut. The tire does still manage to rub the tube in areas. So very close, and it needs a spacer.



And Well no need to show the riken resting on the strut, you get the idea, but was able to sneak my phone down and get a picture of the hub to wheel gap. A 5mm spacer will be plenty.

I might also add, the Tokico Illuminas are not bent at all. I would expect the rod to bend before the strut tube/spindle.

Ive seen the spendel bend on them at the tube. Havent seen em bend anywhere else. Just where they connect. Mostly from jumping rusty b210s.

Also. Dont buy spacers. I have several...

are you talking about the cast part of the spindle at the tube? I just don't see any stress there. But then again maybe I'm in denial...

Im.talking the tube right where it meets the cast area. Even when it bent it didnt look like it untill looked down the tube, then you could see a deformation. A twist in the tube. Bent one over 3 degrees before looked stock just sitting in the garage, so stock I gave it to someone and they installed it, then had to take it back out and come get another one.

Mmk. That is what I am thinking, Just cant find any deformations, I have looked at it from every possible angle. But must be bent...

And success, a S130 at the JY listed as a S30! Its a 79 though, and I dont know what struts I currently have. Ill figure out how to figure out the angle of my passenger side one...

Maybe a speed square across the bottom mounting surface and a tape measure. Or accoss the tube face, then measure down to the spindal?

Junkyard was a bust. Car was soooo rusty. And then I measured it anyways. It was one of the bad struts that give positive camber.

Been talking to a guy with a set of ZX struts. Its a drive, so I just want to make sure they are right before making the trek. Luckily for me he has 2 510s and is friendly!

I managed to acquire a part that I have never seen a wagon owner try to gather. Its the window divider on the rear doors. On the 68/69s they were stainless. 70+ they are not. I finally have both sides! Now to do the terrible task of taking the quarter windows out. To anyone who hasnt down this, its a task. While I have the windows out, I will be getting them tinted.

I started to strip the paint off of the fender I have. Its got some rust. So then I stripped the paint off the remainder of my old fender. First off, Damn the stripper did not want to lift the epoxy off the metal. And then It made me sad. my fender wasnt even rusty. like no rust at all. Eh, now its a good candidate for repairing the other fender.

Im pretty sure I have decided on getting Coiovers and Camber plates for the front. I made this decision after realizing that things may be more bent than I anticipated. Yes the frame was straightened. That does not mean its perfect again, Just close. More adjustability will allow for a better alignment. Im pretty sure I am gonna go with T3, dislike the red anodizing, but thats what oven cleaner is for.

Hopefully Ill get some more work done soon.
