Thanks Charlie
It got rained on last night, unfortunately I sanded on it yesterday and a few small spots were bare metal.
I ran out of primer, so today I will get some more, and prime them later this week.
I cannot get the primer to go on smoothly, it is textured like big machinery looks like, so I have to sand it smooth, my right arm hurts right now, I need to figure out what is going on, as I cannot have the paint go on like that, it needs to go on smooth.

I talked to the paint guys today, they say it goes on like cottage cheese because I am using a TIP machine(HVLP), they say that is how it is with them things, and that is why they don't sell them.
So now I need to look up how to use the other gun I have, it's a Binks that is made in the USA, need to figure that one out now, can't have the paint going on like cottage cheese, way to much sanding, way, Way, WAY TO MUCH SANDING!!!
Looks like the TIP will more than likely be for sale.

Hmm odd. I had issues with the non HVlP gun. It layed the paint fine, but the primer was rough.
I also have a HF HVLP and it sprayed paint fine, havent sprayed primer through it though.

I don't know Jacob, I have only painted one vehicle in my life, and the primer and paint went on smooth, I used an HVLP then also, but it wasn't this one, that one was normally used to paint trim pieces in a house, like the trim pieces around windows and the wall/floor trim pieces, it worked well on the car with the proper tip.
I don't want to even do a test area on the truck because I would have to sand it off if it didn't lay down smooth, I just don't know yet, maybe I will get it all ready for paint and have Maaco paint it, it has turned out better than I thought, I found a few more small dents on the rear corner pillar that I need to fix, but considering where I was even 6 months ago I am doing alright/making progress, I will be driving it to Blue Lake in primer, I thought about clear coating the primer, but do not know if that is a good idea or not, have not asked anyone about that yet.

If I can get my ass out of bed in time I will, but I have been making my breakfast about that time lately.
If I can get there I will, but don't wait for me.

I bought more primer Monday, but it keeps raining on the truck.
I did a full day of pressure washing today, I could hardly walk by the time I was done, my knee and hip joints were killing me, my knees hurt for hours and actually still hurt right now, but I think I can sleep now, I could not earlier.
I think the pills I am taking are causing me issues, might need to make a Dr. appointment if this continues.

I am taking Plavix, a blood pressure pill(Coreg) twice a day, Aspirin(81mg), and Lipitor.

I put another coat of primer on today, this time I used the Binks spray gun using my air compressor, it went on way smoother, I cleaned it up with 320 grit sandpaper by hand, it was way easier.
I only sanded thru the primer in two spots on the top rear box pillars, I am kinda thinking that I will just mix a very small amount of primer tomorrow and just spray them two spots and call it good for now, I did find a few more small dents, not sure if I will fix them now, or wait till after Blue Lake, as it is supposed to be getting hot again.
The tailgate is UGLY, not sure about it anymore, might make another one.

I have about 3 more of them, I also have the upper sides of a box I scrapped, so I have everything I need to make another tailgate, but thankyou for the offer.

So you are going to be selling 520 parts, lots of good stuff that 521 owners want on them.

next week I plan on pulling parts off the 520 then off to the scrapper. The only parts worth removing is motor/trans, DL, gas door, dash and thats about it.
The main reason I bought it was for the slotted wheels which turns out their was 3 different wheels with a slight different off set.
just remembered the bench seat had been recovered and was in good condition so I installed it in the 69 521 I sold last year.

I have a question about the 520, does it have a box, and does the box have the inner fender wells that the front and back of the wells are straight up and down like in the photo below?
I want to add on to the fender well and need the pieces off another early 520 to weld them onto my fender wells to cover up the frame notches and still have it look kinda stock, the problem is that they need to be cut out of the bed which is not easy.

Look at the poor dash, it looks bent, the 520 is the only one with a smooth dash, 521 dashes are textured.
I cannot tell from that photo if the fender well ends are straight up and down or angled in that photo, but the box is definitely being used.
If that tailgate is mostly straight, you should be able to sell it.

the inner fender wells on this 68 520's are sloped / angled in the front and back. That 520 dash is bent, that's why it's in their. The dash inside this 520 will be removed and saved.
I'd save the tail gate but it does have a few issues so I've decide to just let it go. Part of down sizing, can't save everything like I've done in the pass. If I was 40 again, I wouldn't be scrapping anything.
