Well, my dad was here for 2 days and got quite a bit done. First thing he did was get a coat of sealer on all the bed and tailgate pieces.
Then he stripped the running boards and parts of the doors. Also visible is the repair at the bottom of the passenger door.
Lastly he turned his focus on the cab. The main job to be done was the removal of the passenger B-pillar. It was badly mangled when my fat ass forced the door open while being ejected. This part proved to be very labor intensive as the seat base was in the way and needed to be removed first. Next, the rocker was cut away followed by drilling a few dozen spot welds. The pillar itself is a multi-layered puzzle. Took a good half day to get the pillar out.

And then nothing. Apparently it wasn't enough of a nudge to get my brother to actually do anything. I really appreciate all the work that our dad has done but I've pretty much given up on my brother.

Well, when my parents were in town for Thanksgiving my dad had a long conversation with my brother about this project. Even dangled some additional cash in front of him. No dice.
This project is officially in suspended animation.

This is still a stalled project but I ran across this other one and thought I'd post it because it's just so right...

Sliced and diced...
The cab corners and outer rockers cut off. There was a small rust-out on each inner rocker that had patch panels welded in. There was also 2 nickle sized holes behind the passenger door that got the same treatment. It's all kind of Tetrised together so it needs to get reassembled in a specific order.
My brother and nephew putting a coat of E-prime inside the rocker areas that will be covered up.

I've been holding out hope that this might get reignited but due to some recent events with my brother's situation, it's become painfully clear that it's never going to get finished if I wait on him. Next time I see him we need to have a stern conversation about him finishing the cab since he's the one who cut it all apart. Since I have the end in sight on the El Camino and only need to do a little on the Cutlass, I'll start putting my spare cash aside and just hire someone else to finish the '35. It's gonna be really expensive and take a couple more years but that's what needs to be done. I'm honestly more pissed now than ever but I guess at least I have closure and can move on.
