I knew about the sticker but the card is news to me.

If you're gonna be riding in the woods. I am gonna suggest changing the front sprocket To help get around the trails. But more so a Steahly flywheel weight. I threw a 13oz on mine. It really helps keep the mass and rotation going in the motor. You can really lug it down. It helps for lugging. Smooths out the power just a smidge. And a lot less killing it when you're going thru the trails. I was surprised at the difference.

Steahly is a really good brand and the most used. They've been around for years. And as a bonus it's made right here in oregon.

My brother picked up a Coleman canoe yesterday. Even came with a MinKota motor and custom made mount.

Just so happens that one of our buddies gave him a set of Yakima stands. Since his bus already had gutter mounts on it when he bought it, all he needed to do was add some 2" spacer blocks and cut some tubing.

Idaho '36 update...


He changed a few things under the hood.


Painted some small parts. Different wires (because he didn't like the yellow) and better routing. Replaced the Holley with a Carter. Some heat protection on the wiring by the starter. Note the temp gauge sender also. Lots of little things.
Once the engine bay was deemed good-to-go he stripped the dash to install the gauges I gave him. Also got the windshield crank freed up so it would open.

He had a couple cans of aerosol paint mixed up to match. There were a few holes in the dash that weren't going to be used so he got some 1936 coins to use as plugs.




Then it was burnout time...

Spent most of the day yesterday doing yard work and waiting for the clouds to clear up. Finally quit around 4:30 and just went for a ride. Nice to get back out there. Been almost 2 years since I did much more than commute with it.

KX has been moved a couple times but I haven't actually done anything to get it up and running yet. I'm lame -- and easily distracted -- and lame.

I've been following a mower around in circles here for over 30 years. Mosquitoes are brutal this year. Behind the shop is an engineered wetland about an acre in size and behind the house is a swampy valley/gulley what has a creek running through it. The mild winter and early spring has really created a great breeding environment. I must have sweet blood because mosquitoes have always loved me but this is the first year that I've had to bathe in bug spray just to mow the lawn in mid day. It's nuts!

eat more cooked garlic, mosquitoes hate it in their diet.

That would probably help. My wife loves garlic and they don't bother her at all.

Just got a text from my dad. He has some pretty decent interest from guys in Seattle, Reno and Sacramento. Hopefully someone flies in and drives it home.

I'm tellin' ya, man. I've never seen them like this. They've always come out around dusk in years past but this year they're out all day -- even in the direct sun at high noon.

Been prepping for a car show in Pendleton this weekend. Lots of small tasks on the Cutlass. Worked on my brother's '36 for a few hours last night. Stopped (hopefully) a small oil leak at the oil pressure sender. Started out doing a diff service on the new rearend and discovered a seeping axle seal, so replaced both of those while it was opened up. Replaced the dimmer switch that had been causing the headlights to flicker. And lastly, rewired the electric speedometer drive. I had it wired to the speedo signal from the PCM instead of directly at the VSS. Apparently they generate different signal and the Cable-X box wasn't seeing what it was looking for. Now he finally has a working speedo after all this time.
We'll be heading out at 4am Saturday morning. Show starts at 8. I'll get some pics up in one of these threads.

We met up with our dad Saturday morning and hung out for most of the day.

None of us took any award home -- wasn't really a priority anyway. However, my uncle took home a couple for his '57.


Yes, real race car. Aside from the flip nose, this is an all steel car that retains all it's glass. Heavy as fuck. Single carb, naturally aspirated, 327 with a manual transmission. Hangs hoops and runs much quicker than the 11.50 that he dials in at (Any quicker requires a much higher level of safety equipment). It really shouldn't be as quick as it is considering the combination. He's had the car since he was 14 and it's been a gasser since the early '70s.


This model A is there almost every year. It's perfect.

All in all another good show. Hung out with my buddy Jerod along with my dad and brother. Probably around 100 cars on main street. We walked a few blocks to a park on the end of town where there was an early iron show with a bunch of stationary engines, tractors, old trucks, etc. Took no pics.

Pendleton is a pretty old town. Most of the buildings on Main St are dated back to the late 1800s. They have an underground too but I've never taken the tour. It's on the edge of wine country so there has been a lot of touristy businesses opened in the last few years. Plus, they have the Pendleton Roundup every year. Typically the town sucks (I can say that since I lived there for a couple years) but it cleans up okay for company.
