Nicely done Jacob. I am looking forward to doing this in my truck as well. I'm going to try to use the motors and as much wiring from my donor Maxima as possible.

So the Saturn switch must have a detent in the switch to allow the windows to go part way up/down, then a position for full up/down?

Saturn switch: Everything but the driver window switch is either up or down, no magic to it. The Drivers switch has some circuitry underneath for 1 touch down. I have proceeded to clip a wire inside the switch to disable the Saturn switch 1 touch down, and now I am letting the box in the picture control that.

It basically just keeps the motor running, and looks for a spike in current demand, like when the window hits the top of the frame, and shuts off power.

Its kinda funny, as I bought a Saturn center console for the car, and now I am driving a Saturn...

Also, I have little faith in these motors. They will break. I do expect to have to switch to an OEM solution. But at least all my wiring will be done!

I bought another black box of wires...

Image

The astute reader will notice the key fobs, and the Directed logo in the center of the box. And then may realize that there are some huge wires coming out on the left. This is keyless, keyless and, keyless and, remote start. Brand new Avital remote start for $33? yes please.

Remote start on a Carbureted car? Yea I know. My car usually starts easily. when warm without gas pedal action, cold minor gas pedal action. That is where the trunk popper will come in if its an issue. Can you say trunk popper attached to throttle pedal? And yes, I already park my car in Neutral out of habit so that is good. And I am switching to a Z series dogleg which has a neutral safety switch. So yea it should be awesome. This will tie in to my power windows as well... I love electronics.

Never would have thought about the trunk popper actuating the gas pedal.
That's neat ! I am interested to see how this all works out for you.
Always liked the color of your engine bay Jacob.

More progress!

Drivers window motor installed. Wires ran.

Tech Flex is awesome stuff. A razor blade has a hard time cutting it. It acts like a Chinese finger trap, well its cool. Window wires and door lock wires.

And you terminate it like so:

Also it helps to have terminals like these on hand! Need to order more!
Image

Then onto other electrical things. Wanted to mount some relays and boxes and what not... First up, the window one touch box. Some speed nuts on the mounting tabs, drilled and countersinked the holes for a flush look.

And then I have my panel under my glove box I made. Its sheet ABS. Again, drilled and countersinked the holes. And speed nuts on everything.

Started wiring the Remote Start box. realized that a lot of the wires I need run above the glove box... so I pulled the harness down to gain access.
So far, Start/IGN/ACC wires, as well as Parking lights and horn have been attached. I managed to remove 7 wires from the picture above as they were needed in my application. Need to run power to it, Ground it, hook up the ground when locked wire to the DZ start and the Windows, Coil wire, And neutral safety switch. As well as the lock/unlock wires, but thats a complete new circuit in the car like the windows...

Jesus lol. Glad it's you and not me man.

I get a headache just looking at that. but love the tech flex stuff you used or w/e it was called. Looks good and clean, not like that plastic shat you get from autozone.

Just wait til its done. Its like it wont be there. I really need to go back through and start adding connectors at places. Like each door needs it own connector so I can remove it.

One day I will be in Deutsche Connecter Heaven...

Horry chit mang! Thats pretty cool.
Was thinking about your trunk popper throttle cable deal.
Maybe you could hook it to the choke, open the enritchment circuit.

Possibly... Ill have to play around with how the car starts. I have never used choke on the SUs...

Keep trying to work on my car! Things keep getting in the way. Like my microwave door handle... its now fixed with a combo of JB weld and Epoxy...

Anyways, got more of my wiring done. Its almost complete. Still need to hook up a few things...

Got my headlight bucket trimmed for the projector. Now to assemble that.

I started looking at my hood today. Came to the conclusion that its ROYALLY FUCKED. It was bad before, the rear corners were sunk/bent down. Then my cheapness at getting a proper hood seal bulged the middle up over time. And now finally, the wreck did it in. Front corner is a bit bent down. Passenger rear corner is sunk a bit. Hood is wobbly. Paint is cracked/chipped/peeling. It needs hood bumpers to keep it aligned and not hitting the fenders. For now I am going to add some bumpers/height adjusters and use some adhesive to bond the bracing and skin back together. Im oh so tempted to strip the hood and rust it. Its fucked, I dont care about it. Rust and white would go. Rust, and then used motor oil might make it look greyer... I just need a new hood.

Suspension is all back on. Nice and tight.

Its not far from the road. Need to figure out what I want to do for front turn signals (I know what I want, but I dont think its feasible in a short amount of time)

I know, it can be like that sometimes - right?

I did your remote starter with the trunk release trick for cold starts - that is damn slick!

Where am I? I forgot to take pictures....

I did NOT take my car in for an alignment. Just got too busy with other things.

Headlight are in. Well actually I am missing the driver side highbeam plastic nuts for the adjusters, so the highbeam is not in.

Passenger fender is on...

Wiring: Remote start is a go! The car has started from the remote start; Both front windows are now powered, power to a relay so only on with accessory power; Door locks, wires have been ran for a long time, still not connected to the necessary relays, but the the relays are mostly hooked up. What's left? Tach wiring install. hooking up the door locks... Um, cant think of anything else...

Whats left? Need to mount the drivers fender... valence (I so want to buy a new valence, it barely got touched in the crash, but its still crappy like most valences are), hood, grill and trim. Dash assembly. Clean the car. Other things as well, but Ill wait until I can grasp the idea better.

Got new grill parts, and a new hood! Fiberglass hood is nice and light!
