Alright, here's what's going on with me tonight! Ordered two ZH needles and two WO3 needles from Australia ebay. Woot woot! And I should go by and get some standard needles this weekend from a Datsun guy I know.

How are you going to measure the seats?

Can you drive and enjoy while you wait for the mailman?

Which seats? You mean the nozzles? And no, sadly I can't drive and enjoy. I fucked up the one needle just great. Big old gouge in it. And I'll have to destroy that needle to get it out. It's jammed in, I can move it an 1/8 inch in an out. I'm thinking I tightened the holding screw too hard.

Ok, Andy Kazanis bailed me out with some stock needles. Got them in, car's running pretty darn well, but after fiddling for a bit, have an issue of cutting out at WOT. And then the halmeter kept telling me I was lean. Adjusted fuel pressure a bit, the gauge is indicating steady, but I'm worried about the volume of fuel at high rpm. I'm also wondering if my 02 sensor has gone to crap since it is a single wire narrow band and it's seen a lot of rich and lean use in playing with the Maxima.
Think I'm going to hook up the wide band and re-check. I had it set what I thought was perfectly, but then had missing at the top end when wapping the throttle. Don't know if it's too lean on the throttle screw or if the fuel is cutting out. Regular blips of the throttle go okay though. I'm eating lunch. Either way the car is running. Now I'm wondering if I'm hitting over 6 grand, but I don't think so. Need to hook up the other tach so I can see it from outside the car. Just have the dwell tach rpm gauge up and it only goes to 3 grand. Valve springs are good to 8000 rpm and headflow chokes at 7300, so I'm not too worried there.
Anyway, time for lunch.

I was thinking the other option is perhaps the needle should be moved up in the piston again. I can move it a few thousandths and try that, which will figure out high rpm running. But the needle is all the way out of the piston on high speed for the most part, so I doubt this is it. If it is, then I need to sand the bottom three spots of the needle to gain more clearance. I'm still suspecting something with fuel delivery, but I'm done with lunch, will fiddle a bit more.

I'm thinking the problem is the float bowls. At 4k it just drops out, but doesn't go lean or rich, just drops out. Fuel pressure doesn't change. Thinking the float bowls are emptying and it's plain running out of fuel. Going to fiddle with it some more tomorrow.

I would expect that to show lean.

Could be starving due to level also. But if it's set rich and works just fine, shouldn't be a problem of the needle. It does go to stoich when it starves, but not lean. I'll re-check some stuff tomorrow. Just got back from a late dinner at mom and dads. Damn near fell asleep on the freeway. Bah. Good dinner though. Rose helped by falling asleep in the passenger seat.

Be careful, one day you will nod off and not wake up till it's too late.
I used to hit the side of my head so hard it hurt trying to stay awake, one time driving back from Florida I started seeing double and I gave up, I pulled off the freeway pretty far, turned the engine off and I only remember not bothering to release the seat belt, I don't remember my head hitting the seat, a couple hours later I was woke up by the gal that was sleeping in the back of the truck, she had to pee, that couple hours made me feel like I had slept 8 hours, funny thing is I cannot sleep when some one else is driving no matter how hard I try.

I hear you. I'm normally pretty good about not driving while tired, but last night was a little close. Had to keep opening the window to get some cold air in.

Well I didn't feel like doing anything today so I said fuck it and got more Christmas lights! And a sweet Christmas-y projector that does swirled red blue and green lighting on the side of the house. Our block looks pretty good this year. And someone finally moved into the house across the street and he put up lights too! They actually look a little better than mine.
Anyway, I'll play with the car next weekend.

Wynona runs again! So, fyi, 1" tall air filters is not enough airflow for a 2.6 liter engine past 3500 rpm. F me running! Have the Datsun guru looking at making a custom air box. Either that or I'm ditching the brake booster and running manual brakes. Took the air filters off, she runs to 7k no problem. Can't believe I didn't think of that sooner, but oh well!

I thought that was "fuck yeah". Married life has made you paranoid and defensive. Take it however you want.
