Haha. The '32 was actually originally done a couple years ago when my nephew was a boy scout (it got a full resto and engine upgrade last week). All the dads thought it was awesome. The car that beat it was basically like the one you're talking about but had a couple Angry Birds stickers on it. Tried and true winning combo, I guess .

It's all subject to change. That's just what it looks like right now. I'm somewhat disappointed to see the Blue '36 go but it wasn't ever really intended to be a keeper. Since it was essentially "done" and just needed some freshening up, it was never really his build. If he starts with more of a blank canvas I think the end result will be a much nicer pickup.

I will get to experience the pinewood thing early next year as my son joined Cub Scouts back in October.

More discussion on this subject over vacation. We decided it might make more sense to just keep it down here and he would make a couple long weekend trips to do the work. It's not a project that really needs to be done but has been on the back burner for a while. Before we tear it down I need to dig out the 327 and get it rebuilt and do the engine bay cleanup first. Shooting for a finish date (minus interior work) of April 1st.

Also making a preliminary mental list of sale items for the Portland swap meet in the spring. Probably take the 400 that's currently in the El Camino, the LT1 that I've had in the corner for 10 years, the TH200 that came out Cutlass, maybe pick up a couple T-5s and 8.8s too. Have quite a bit of random small stuff too already in a pile. My dad says he wants to bring '64 El Camino down and try to sell it too. Not sure if my brother has anything for the booths but I've been storing the 327 out of his '36 for a few years and would like to see it gone. Jerod will come down, as usual. Looking forward to it.
Kind of on the fence about selling the Shot Rod Sedan project. On one hand I really want to build it but won't get to it for a few years due to the pending move and house/shop building. On the other hand, it sure would be easy to convert it to cash and not drag it 450 miles just to store it some more.

Lightning the load may be a good choice, It will make it a easier move.

Really, I'll be taking too many cars with me anyway. Planning to sell both motorcycles before I go though.

He's always on the lookout for '35-'36 pickups so maybe one of those. He's a also been talking about maybe a '62 Impala. That was his first car. He'll probably be making some long weekend trips down here to work on my El Camino when I get ready to dig into it. Need to stack some cash to send the 327 to the machine shop first.

Sweet, 62 Impala love me one of those, my folks had one of them when I started grade 1

He's tried to find his old car but hit dead ends. It was just a 283/Powerglide -- nothing special, so it probably didn't survive to be restored by subsequent owners. He traded it in on a new Spitfire in '72. About 15 years ago he had a white SS for awhile that was really a pretty well preserved original. It was cool but would never replace his first. Sold it to a guy who turned it into a traditional lowrider.
He's been kicking around the idea of an LS swap so a numbers matching car isn't necessary. He just been looking for a complete car with a decent body to start out with. Then build to suit.

Digging where this may go, I had a 66 parisienne about 10 years ago, put pinnacle wires on it, was a 283 glide,cruiser

I sold my 66 Galaxie to buy the 510 that my son claimed. Man that car was huge.

Pops has his eye on another '36 pickup in Iowa. Has a local guy scheduled to go look at it before he makes a deal.

Placed an order for El Camino parts that showed up yesterday. Trying to stack some cash for the machine shop.



I pulled out the LT1 I've had under the stairs for at least 10 years and did a leakdown test on it. Pretty disappointing results. It really should be honed, resealed and have the heads done before it gets run in anything. At this point I'm thinking I might just do the harness to make it stand-alone and loosely reassemble it. I'll probably post it on CL then take it to the swap meet if it doesn't sell. I like LT1s but just don't see myself having a use for it in the foreseeable future.
